Town Council Meeting Agenda Pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.02 notice is hereby given to the public that the Sahuarita Town Council will hold a meeting at the date and time specified below at the Sahuarita Council Chambers, 375 West Sahuarita Center Way, Sahuarita, AZ. Members of the Town of Sahuarita Council will attend either in person or by telephone conference call. To better serve our community, the Sahuarita Council Chambers is wheelchair accessible. Call to Order 2. Invocation The Invocation will be given by President Thayne Hardy from the Sahuarita Arizona Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Our invocations are provided by volunteers, and presenters will be accepted and welcomed regardless of religious affiliation. Interested parties may contact the Town Clerk. 3. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Payton Powell, a fifth grade student at Sahuarita Intermediate School. 4. Roll Call 5. Call to the Public At this time, any member of the public is invited to address the Town Council on any issue which is on tonight’s Consent Agenda or on any issue which the Town Council can lawfully act upon at a future meeting. Written comments regarding any item on the agenda or on any issue which the Town Council can lawfully act upon may be submitted prior to the beginning of the council meeting for distribution to the Town Council. Pursuant to the Arizona Open Meeting Laws, the Council may not discuss the items, but individual members of the Council may respond to criticism made by those who have addressed the Council, may ask staff to review the matter, or may ask that the matter be placed on a future agenda. 7. Verification and approval of the Town of Sahuarita Designated Management Area for an update to the 2006 Regional Areawide Water Quality Management Plan (Section 208). D. Recommendation to the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control regarding a special event liquor license application by Sahuarita Parks Foundation, for an event at the Rancho Sahuarita Club House, on Friday, November 3, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at 15455 S Camino Largo Azul, Sahuarita, Arizona. E. Recommendation to the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control regarding a special event liquor license application submitted by the Tucson Independent Restaurant Alliance, for the Sahuarita Pecan Festival, on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Farmers Investment Company/Green Valley Pecan Company, 1625 East Sahuarita Road, Sahuarita, Arizona. 8. Adoption of Resolution No. 2017-0523, authorizing the Town to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Sahuarita Unified School District No. 30, Sahuarita Contract No. 180030, for the joint use of a new park owned by the School District and located on Rancho Sahuarita Boulevard south of Sahuarita Road, and for the allocation of town funds for the construction of the park, in the amounts of $600,000 to assist with the cost of the design and construction of the sports fields, and $650,000 to fund the design and construction of field lighting. Action recommended: adopt the resolution. 9. Discussion regarding the direct election of Mayor. Discussion. 10. Council and Town Manager Reports and Requests STUDY SESSION 11. Presentation and discussion regarding a zoning code text amendment to Sahuarita Town Code Chapter 18.79 (Sign Standards), the primary purpose of which amendment is to create a user- friendly and content-neutral set of sign standards (Case No. SA8-16-00002). Discussion and presentation. 13. Adjournment Action may be taken by the Town Council on any item listed on this agenda. The Town Council may vote to go into executive session pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.03 (A) (3) for discussion or consultation for legal advice with the Town Attorney concerning any matter listed on this agenda.
