Council Member Houseman opened with a prayer. Council Member Robinson led the
Pledge of Allegiance.

Mike Applegarth noted that the Election of Council Officers will be the first meeting in
July.

Council Member Business
Council Member Zoltanski asked about pool hours at Alta Canyon. She asked the
Council Meetings be broadcast on the City Facebook page.
Council Member Robinson noted that he is participating with a weak internet connection.
Mayor's Report
Mayor Bradburn spoke about the pool hours at Alta Canyon and the difficulty of
expanding hours during pandemic uncertainty. Parks Director Scott Earl provided
additional detail.
Mayor Bradburn spoke about a "mask event" tomorrow at Rio Tinto Stadium.
CAO Report
Chief Administrative Officer Matt Huish asked that staff be allowed to brief the Council as
follows:
Park Director Scott Earl spoke about strong revenue at River Oaks Golf Course. He also
noted efforts to create virtual recreation opportunities. Lastly, the Bell Canyon
Preservation Trailhead was bid out but additional funding will be required. A presentation
to the Council will be forthcoming.
Fire Chief Bruce Cline updated the Council on the Lehi and Saratoga fires. He also spoke
about fireworks signage and extra patrols.
Mearle Marsh reported on the Youth Showcase that was just completed. There were 54
participants.

Mike Gladbach introduced Blake Leonelli from Waste Management who provided the
presentation about proposed changes to the recycling program. Council questions
followed. Council Member Nicholl recommended that this item be brought back next
week for public comment.

This item was adopted by unanimous vote.

4. 20-215 Administration recommending that the Council adopt a scooter ordinance
for Sandy City.

Deputy Mayor Evelyn Everton reviewed the information on the scooter ordinance
presented to the Council last week. Bob Thompson and Tracy Cowdell addressed
questions about the ordinance and the feasibility of limiting the geography where scooters
are allowed.
A motion was made by Kristin Coleman-Nicholl, seconded by Brooke
Christensen, to continue this item and direct council attorney to work with the
city attorney to review geographical boundaries... The motion carried by the
following vote:

Citizen Comments
Mike Applegarth emphasized that this comment portion was for items not on the agenda.
Dustin Fratto provided information about how to participate in public comments.
Steve Van Maren mentioned Salt Lake County's "Rally the Valley" program.
Jim Edwards requested that his comments be clarified in the June 23 minutes.
Max Walker expressed gratitude to have a larger recycling container.
Sione Langi, President of the Sandy Fraternal Order of Police read a statement
expressing hope to move forward now that the budget is adopted.
Bethann Martin noted that she appreciated shopping at Kuwaharas.
