Otherincidentshaveoccurredlateintothenight. Sciencesupportsclosingbarsearlierhas animpactonsafetyandassaults. Eachadditional hourofservingatbarsisassociated witha16% increaseinviolentcrimes. According tolocationsoversees, extending thehoursbarsservealcohol, the numberofcrimesincreasedrastically. Reducing thenumberofhoursabarservesreducesthenumberof crimes. Forexample, atCitizensBankPark, hometothePhiladelphia Phillies, theystoppedservingalcohol afterthe7th inning. Thiscontributed tothereductionincrimes, mainlyassaults, intheareasurrounding the stadium. TheManhattan InstituteReportfoundmanycrimeswereassociated withdrinkingofalcohol. In additiontosavinglivesandtrauma, theCitysavesmoneywiththereductionofcrime. Dr.Dooleystatedthesearefacts, notanemotional plea. Hospitals seethefalloutfrompeoplewhoare drunk. Onbehalfofhimselfandhiscolleagues, thisneedstochange. Theyunderstand thisisnotaCity decisionandtheyneedtocountontheCountyfortheirbacking. Commissioner Golubaskedifthereisanydataaroundthenumberofpeoplewhogotothehospitaldueto alcoholrelatedevents. Dr.Hooleystatedtheemergencyroomisfullafter11p.m.withpeopleinrelationtoalcoholincidents. Dr.Hollandstatedtheydoseeanincreaselateatnightforalcoholrelatedincidents. Commissioner Moranstatedherecently readanarticlethattheUnitedStatesisconsuming alcoholatthe samerate/levelitdidpriortotheCivilWar. TheCityisadifferentanimalfromthecomparisons made.
