Barb,
Northern Gateway is proposed to be a development with many parts which combine to form a
strong vision for growth and opportunity in the Village of Saukville. Built into this development is a
strategic alignment to Mel’s Charities, Inc.
Mel’s Charities stated mission is to provide “Great Times for Great Causes,” supporting non-profit
organizations in Ozaukee County, with a strong emphasis on special needs, memorial scholarships,
and human service organizations. Through their participation in Northern Gateway, Mel’s will
provide a hub of activity for IDD individuals, their families, and for the residents of the community.
They are well known throughout the county as a leader in supporting IDD individuals.
One exciting aspect of this development that I’d like to share is that our future commercial partners
(all under LOIs) share the development team’s vision of aligning with Mel’s Charities (most already
do!). All have committed to employing IDD individuals as part of their commitment to this project.
This is truly a mission-aligned development that should provide jobs, value, housing, and recreation
to all Village residents.
