***VILLAGE BOARD MINUTES*** January 3, 2023 SAUKVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT and VIA ZOOM 649 E. GREEN BAY AVE., SAUKVILLE, WI 53080 Village President Barb Dickmann called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Julie Friede gave the Statement of Public Notice. Members: Barb Dickmann-present, Scott Fischer-present, Trevor Seitz-via Zoom, Jim Nowlen-present, Andy Hebein-present, and Pete Janus-present. Member Absent: Richard Belling Others Present: Dawn Wagner, Julie Friede, Chief Rob Meyer, Chief Bill Rice, Chief Kevin Hingiss, Gerry Antoine, Brad Hoeft, Jessica Donohue, Mary Kay Baumann, Dawn Johnson, Briana Johnson, Collin Meshics, Andy Kordash, Randy Kordash, Janet Kordash, Deana Laabs, Jason Laabs, Will Navis, G Theune, Vanessa Marratt, Joseph Caban, Corey D.,Ryan Hurda, Sue H., Jordan Lavoy, Tanner Woepse, Sara deBruijn, Kevin Airandi, Nic Nemetz, Bob Ramthum, Brandin Depies, Chris Janich, Cameron Deppiesse, Matt Caswell, Pat Kosmosky, Amani Anjum, Jason VonDeimbry, Jim Witek, Jennifer Laboy, Lee Laboy and Sandy Smith. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE CITIZEN COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS None APPROVE MINUTES OF December 6, 2022 MEETING. Hebein/Fischer made a motion to approve minutes of December 6, 2022. Motion Carried. COMMUNICATIONS REPORT FROM THE VILLAGE PRESIDENT Recognition Awards – Police Department and Fire Department Friede administered the Oath of Office to the New FT Firefighter/EMS employees Jordan Laboy and Joshua Van Natta. Chief Meyer spoke on behave of the Police Department. Meyer stated on November 24, 2022 at 4:11a.m. Officer Anjum responded to a call of a women in labor. When Office Anjum arrived on seen, he determined he would be assisting in the delivery of a newborn. Member of Saukville and Grafton Fire Department arrived on seen along with Lt. Ryan Hurda from the Port Washington Police Department and Deputy Morgan from Ozaukee County Sherriff Department. Meyer stated how the special this event was due to the collaboration within Ozaukee County. Saukville had 5 departments respond from 4 jurisdictions within Ozaukee County. Everyone came together with one common goal, for the best out come for Brianna and Baby Colt. Meyer applauded with a job well done. Officer Anjum was awarded with the Gold Challenge Coin Award. The Gold Challenge Coin Award is only given to members of the Police Department for explementary performance of their duties. Lt. Ryan Hurda of the Port Washington Police Department was awarded with the Saukville Police Department Lifesaver Award. This Award is given when an officer when taking action that directly results in the preservation of human life. Chief Rice spoke on behave of the Fire Department Chief Rice stated Saukville and Grafton Fire Departments have been running together almost daily. It has been a success story and a tribute to the employees working very well together. Chief Rice acknowledged Nic Nemetz, Vanessa Marratt, Deana Laabs and Jason Laabs for a job well done. Dawn Johnson gave a heartfelt speech to thank everyone involved with the assistance/emergency care they provided for her daughter and with the delivery of her grandson. Village Attorney Commendation Gerry Antoine was recognized for his years of service with the Village of Saukville. Dickmann stated Antoine has been the Village Attorney since the mid 1980’s Dickmann read a proclamation in Antoine’s honor. Antoine stated is has been a privilege to work with the Village of Saukville. Dickmann introduced Brad Hoeft. Hoeft stated he is looking forward to continuing the relationship with the Village of Saukville. REPORT FROM THE VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR None. ORDINANCES – RESOLUTIONS – PETITIONS None. REPORTS OF VILLAGE BOARD COMMITTEES Utility Committee No Report. Public Works/Cemetery Committee No Report. Public Safety Committee No Report. Finance Committee Dickmann reported on the meeting of January 3, 2023. December Claims were approved. Reviewed Investment Reports for November and December. The Community Sign will be on the Plan Commission Agenda for February 7, 2023. US Cellular First Amendment to Ground Lease Nowlen/Hebein made a motion to approve the US Cellular First Amendment to Ground Lease. Motion Carried. Other Matters RE: Open Police Officer position LAW (Police Union) signed a Side Letter of Agreement regarding Lateral Transfers. This could potential assist with hiring of the new officer. Helm completed the Public Works Institute (12-13-2022)- Public Works Management Institute Certificate Program – The College of Engineering & Interdisciplinary Professional Programs – UW- Madison The Employee Appreciation Event will continue. The event is Scheduled for April 5, 2023 at 7:00 pm at the Village Board meeting and a small reception to follow. Wagner completed the Ruekert & Mielke Annual Client Satisfaction survey and won $1000.00. Donations were given to the Saukville Community Food Pantry in the amount of $500.00 and Riveredge Nature Center in the amount of $500.00 REPORTS OF SPECIAL COMMITTEES Plan Commission No Report. Community Development Authority/Industrial Review Committee No Report. Library Board Janus reported on the meeting of December 13, 2023. Janus stated Library will be installing a new visitor counter to review library traffic. Janus stated minutes will be sent out to the Village Board. Mid-Moraine Municipal Association No Report. OPERATOR LICENSE APPROVALS None. LIQUOR LICENSE APPROVALS None. CITIZEN MATTERS AS NOTICED None. ADJOURNMENT Nowlen/Hebein made a motion to adjourn.
