Council Member James Entenman, Council Member Michelle Erpenbach, Council Member
Greg Jamison, Council Member Dean Karsky, Council Member Rex Rolfing, Council Member

Members Absent: Mayor Mike T. Huether
CALL TO ORDER
Council Chair Jim Entenman called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
Entenman reminded the City Council of the Working Sessions scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to
6:00 p.m for the following dates: Thursday, August 15, 2013 and Wednesday, August 28,
2013. The Working Sessions will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room at the Carnegie Town
Hall, 235 W. 10th Street. The agenda for the August 15, 2013, Working Session will cover
Transit and the City Council Travel Policy.
Entenman also reminded the Council that the next CIP/Budget Hearing will occur on Tuesday,
August 20, 2013. Budgets for the following City Departments will be reviewed: Fire Rescue,
Library, Health, Community Development and Public Parking.
Council Member Dean Karsky asked Tracy Turbak, Director of Finance, about the projected
reimbursement from FEMA from the ice storm in April, 2013. Discussion followed.
BUDGET HEARINGS
A. Parks and Recreation
Don Kearney, Director of Parks and Recreation, gave an overview of the 2014
Budget for the Parks and Recreation Department. Discussion followed.
B. Great Plains Zoo
Elizabeth Whealy, President and CEO of the Great Plains Zoo and Delbridge
Museum, gave an overview of the 2014 Budget for the Zoo. Discussion
followed.
C. Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science
Larry Toll, President of the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science, gave an
overview of the 2014 Budget for the Washington Pavilion. Discussion followed.
D. Public Works
Mark Cotter, Director of Public Works, gave an overview of the 2014 Budget for
the Public Works Department. Discussion followed.
Council Members requested the following items for discussion at a future Work Session Meeting:
Possible Review of other Entertainment Venues (Erpenbach); Dog Parks and the Indoor
Pool (Jamison and Karsky); and Falls Park West (Anderson Jr.).
ADJOURNMENT
Council Chair Entenman adjourned the meeting at 4:58 p.m.
