Informational Meeting

MINUTES Monday, April 12, 2010 Informational Meeting 4:00 p.m. at Carnegie Town Hall Sioux Falls City Council 235 West 10th Street Members Present: Kenny Anderson Jr., Vernon Brown, J. Pat Costello, Greg Jamison, De Knudson, Bob Litz, Kermit Staggers, and Mayor Dave Munson. Members Absent: Gerald Beninga. Staff Present: Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations, and Jamie L. Palmer, Assistant City Clerk. 1. Call To Order Council Chair Costello called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 2. City Council Staff Report A. Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations Owen reported that absentee voting has surpassed 2000 voters. She stated that absentee voting will be available at the Minnehaha County Administration building until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13th. More ballots are being printed due to the increase in absentee voter turnout. Owen said if you would like to work the election, please call the City Clerk’s office at 367-8080. Owen spoke about Item 7 on the City Council agenda. Discussion followed. 3. Mayor Munson No report. 4. Audit Committee Costello stated that there will be an audit report presented under Item 9. 5. Fiscal Committee Costello reported that the committee met last Monday and received an update from IT regarding a Document Management System. 6. Land Use Committee No report. 7. Public Services Committee Brown reported that the committee meeting originally scheduled for today was cancelled. 8. City Council Open Discussion Knudson spoke about the Sound of Music musical which opens April 30th at the Orpheum Theatre. She reminded listeners about the election and said that polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00  p.m. tomorrow and she encouraged citizens to exercise their right to vote. Jamison spoke regarding the Iowa casino and his concern regarding the loss of revenue for City of Sioux Falls. Discussion followed. Anderson Jr. asked for a formal update regarding the Washington Pavilion to be scheduled for a future Informational Meeting. Owen stated that she would work to get the item scheduled. 9.
