MINUTES Monday, April 19, 2010 Informational Meeting 4:00 p.m. at Carnegie Town Hall Sioux Falls City Council 235 West 10th Street Members Present: Kenny Anderson Jr., Gerald Beninga, Vernon Brown, J. Pat Costello, Greg Jamison, De Knudson, and Bob Litz. Members Absent: Kermit Staggers, and Mayor Dave Munson. Staff Present: Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations, and Jamie L. Palmer, Assistant City Clerk. 1. Call To Order Council Chair Costello called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 2. City Council Staff Report A. Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations Owen gave reminders about some upcoming meetings and events. She stated that Public Hearings regarding Affordable Housing wil be held this Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m, at the Carnegie Town Hall. Owen shared that Jamie Palmer has earned her designation as a Certified Municipal Clerk. Owen stated that absentee voting is now available and added that the County Auditor’s Office will be open for absentee voting on Saturday, April 24th from 8:00 a.m. until Noon. Owen shared some information about Item 32 on this evening’s City Council Agenda. 3. Mayor Munson Debra Gaikowski spoke regarding Items 42 & 45 on this evening’s City Council Agenda. 4. Audit Committee No report. 5. Fiscal Committee No report. 6. Land Use Committee No report. 7. Public Services Committee No report. 8. City Council Open Discussion  Councilor Knudson stated that 4th Annual Whittier Neighborhood cleanup event will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010. She stated that tickets can now be ordered for the "Sound of Music" play at the Orpheum by calling 360-4800. 9. Presentations A. Sioux Falls Beautiful Committee Update by Russ Sorenson, Urban Planner; Rick Foster, Sioux Falls Beautiful Committee Member; and Mark Thomas, Sioux Falls Beautiful Committee Member B. South Dakota State University Lawn Watering Project Update by Bonny Seagraves, Extension Associate; Dr. Todd Trooien, Natural Resources Engineer; and Dr. Dennis Todey, South Dakota State Climatologist 10.
