Informational Meeting

MINUTES Monday, June 21, 2010 Informational Meeting 4:00 p.m. at Carnegie Town Hall Sioux Falls City Council 235 West 10th Street Members Present: Kenny Anderson Jr., Vernon Brown, Jim Entenman, Michelle Erpenbach, Greg Jamison, Bob Litz, Rex L. Rolfing, Sue Aguilar, and Mayor Mike Huether. Members Absent: None. Staff Present: Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations, and Jamie L. Palmer, Assistant City Clerk. 1. Call To Order Council Chair Jamison called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 2. City Council Staff Report A. Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations Owen stated that a packet of information was given to each of the Council Members to review before their scheduled working session on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at 5:00 p.m. 3. Mayor Huether No report. 4. Audit Committee Jamison stated that the next meeting is scheduled on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at 4:00 p.m. 5. Fiscal Committee No report. 6. Land Use Committee No report. Litz stated that the committee will meet next Monday, June 28, 2010 to discuss zoning requirements. 7. Public Services Committee Anderson Jr. reported that the committee met last week to discuss another affordable housing option and the proposed changes to the Ethics Ordinance. He stated that they will be meeting with the Ethics Board and the City Attorney’s Office to discuss the proposed changes. Brown said that he received a call from Kermit Staggers requesting a meeting with the Public Services Committee. Owen and Anderson Jr. will schedule a meeting with Mr. Staggers. 8. City Council Open Discussion Rolfing asked about rescheduling the Fiscal Committee meeting that was cancelled. Brown stated that the next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 6, 2010, immediately following the Informational  Meeting. Anderson Jr. shared about an act of kindness that occurred yesterday on Father’s Day. Aguilar congratulated Entenman for becoming a grandfather last week. Brown congratulated Debra Owen on her recent appointment as Region 8 Director for the International Institute of Municipal Clerk’s Board of Directors. 9. Presentations A. Zoning Procedures discussion by Mike Cooper, Director of Planning & Building Services Discussion occurred regarding the location of committee meetings. Owen will research and provide information about the cost of having committee meetings taped and web streamed. 10.
