MINUTES Monday, July 19, 2010 Informational Meeting 4:00 p.m. at Carnegie Town Hall Sioux Falls City Council 235 West 10th Street Members Present: Council Member Aguilar, Council Member Brown, Council Member Entenman, Council Member Erpenbach, Council Member Jamison, and Mayor Mike Huether. Members Absent: Council Member Anderson Jr., Council Member Litz, and Council Member Rolfing. Staff Present: Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations, and Jamie L. Palmer, Assistant City Clerk. 1. Call To Order Council Chair Jamison called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. 2. City Council Staff Report A. Debra A. Owen, City Clerk /Chief of Council Operations Owen spoke about Legislative Priorities and said that a presentation will be given next Monday by Yvonne Taylor from the Municpal League. 3. Mayor Huether Huether said that David Pfeifle, City Attorney, has officially started today and welcomed him to the team. He said that Jill Franken has officially started her position as Director of Public Health. He shared information about the successful Jazz Fest that occurred last weekend. He commented on the zoning meetings that are ongoing and said that they have been well received. Huether gave each Council member a copy of the book titled The Millionaire Next Door. 4. Audit Committee Jamison reported that Rich Oksol will be presenting the Multi-Cultural Center audit report at the Joint City Council/Minnehaha County Commission Meeting today at 5:00 p.m. 5. Fiscal Committee No report. 6. Land Use Committee Erpenbach reported that the committee will meet next Monday, July 26th, immediately following the Informational meeting to discuss more zoning issues. 7. Public Services Committee Brown said the committee met last Monday to review their suggestions for revising the Ethics Ordinance. There is a meeting with the Board of Ethics scheduled next Tuesday, July 27th, at 4:00 p.m. to discuss those proposed changes. 8. City Council Open Discussion Entenman asked if there is a possibility of combining the permits required for events to keep it simple. Discussion followed. 9. Presentations Mayor Huether and City Attorney Pfeifle left at this time. A. Council CIP Working Session Donn Hill, Fire Chief, gave a brief overview of the CIP Projects for Sioux Falls Fire and Rescue. Discussion and questions followed. 2011-15 Fire Rescue (council) Fire Station Land Acquisition All Incidents map Sally Felix, Director of Siouxland Libraries, gave a brief overview of the CIP projects for Siouxland Public Libraries. Discussion and questions followed. Branches and Westside for Council copy Council Member Anderson Jr. arrived at this time. Don Kearney, Director of Parks and Recreation, gave a brief overview of the CIP projects for Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation. Discussion and questions followed.
