MINUTES Monday, January 3, 2011 Informational Meeting 4:00 p.m. at Carnegie Town Hall Sioux Falls City Council 235 West Tenth Street Members Present: Sue Aguilar, Kenny Anderson Jr., Vernon Brown, James Entenman, Michelle Erpenbach, Greg Jamison, Bob Litz, Rex Rolfing Members Absent: Mayor Mike T. Huether Staff Present: Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations and Tamara Jorgensen, CMC, Assistant City Clerk 1. Call To Order Council Chair Jamison called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 2. City Council Staff Report A. Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations Owen stated there would be a request to defer Item 9 on tonight's City Council meeting agenda. 3. Mayor Huether A. No report. 4. City Council Open Discussion Erpenbach reminded citizens that they can be cited for careless driving if they are not paying attention when driving too close to people shoveling or blowing snow out of their driveways. She asked that citizens be 'good neighbors' during inclement weather conditions. Anderson Jr. would like to view snow gates in action. Arrangements will be made with the Director of Public Works. Jamison gave an update regarding recent quotes given to the media regarding a new recreation center and the events center. Brown and Litz gave additional information on how other cities have both a recreation center and an events center and the renovating of buildings to make this happen. Litz complimented Public Works on how the snow removal, for the most recent  storm, went so well. 5. Presentations A. Sanitary Landfill Internal Audit Report by Rich Oksol, Lead Internal Auditor B. Pawn Shop Reimbursement Fund Internal Audit Report by Rich Oksol, Lead Internal Auditor 6. Executive Session A. Personnel issues under SDCL 1-25-2(1) A motion made by Kenny Anderson Jr. and seconded by Bob Litz to enter Executive Session at 4:27 p.m. to discuss personnel issues under SDCL 1-25-1(1). A motion made by Michelle Erpenbach and seconded by James Entenman to exit Executive Session at 5:24 p.m. Council Chair Jamison called for a voice vote on that motion and all members voted yes. Motion Passed. 7. Adjournment A motion made by Michelle Erpenbach and seconded by James Entenman to adjourn at 5:24 p.m. Council Chair Jamison called for a voice vote on that motion and all members voted yes.
