MINUTES Monday, January 10, 2011 Informational Meeting 4:00 PM at Carnegie Town Hall Sioux Falls City Council 235 West Tenth Street Members Present: Sue Aguilar, Kenny Anderson Jr., Vernon Brown, James Entenman, Greg Jamison, Bob Litz Members Absent: Michelle Erpenbach, Rex Rolfing Staff Present: Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations and Jamie L. Palmer, CMC, Assistant City Clerk 1. Call To Order Council Chair Jamison called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. Council Member Erpenbach arrived at this time. 2. City Council Staff Report A. Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations Owen gave a few reminders for tonight’s City Council agenda and said that there are some items that are to be "walked in". 3. Fiscal Committee A. Report from meeting held on Monday, January 3, 2011 4. City Council Open Discussion Brown congratulated Mayor Mike Huether on his recent hiring decision for the new Finance Director. Owen said that the advice and consent Resolution for the Finance Director will come before the Council on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Entenman spoke about a recent press release sent out by the Convention and Visitor's Bureau regarding the increase of visitors at the Falls Park Visitors Center. Brown asked that in the future the Council be informed of legal action that involves the city. Erpenbach said that there will be a public meeting regarding the Parks and Recreation Needs Assessment on January 13, 2011, at 8:00 p.m. in the Main Library Conference Room A. 5. Presentations A. Events Center Update by Mayor Mike Huether Mark Cotter, Director of Public Works, opened the discussion for the Events Center update and said that he will give a brief update on the architecht & engineer selections and the constructor. Mike Cooper, Director of Planning and Building Services gave a brief review of the Economic and Development Impact Analysis and reviewed upcoming deadlines. Huether ended the presentation with a brief overview. B. Recreation Needs Assessment Process by Don Kearney, Director of Parks and Recreation 6. Executive Session A. Personnel issues under SDCL 1-25-2(1) A motion was made by Bob Litz and seconded by Michelle Erpenbach to enter Executive Session at 4:52 p.m. to discuss a Personnel Issue under SDCL 1-25- 2(1). Council Chair Jamison called for a voice vote on that motion and all members voted yes. Motion Passed. A motion was made by Vernon Brown and seconded by Kenny Anderson Jr. to exit Executive Session at 5:16 p.m. Council Chair Jamison called for a voice vote on that motion and all members voted yes. Motion Passed. 7. Adjournment A motion was made by Vernon Brown and seconded by Kenny Anderson Jr. to adjourn at 5:17 p.m. Council Chair Jamison called for a voice vote on that motion and all members voted yes.
