MINUTES Monday, June 6, 2011 Informational Meeting 4:00 PM at Carnegie Town Hall Sioux Falls City Council 235 West Tenth Street Members Present: Sue Aguilar, Kenny Anderson Jr., Vernon Brown, James Entenman, Michelle Erpenbach, Greg Jamison, Dean Karsky, and Rex Rolfing. Members Absent: Mayor Mike T. Huether Staff Present: Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations and Tamara Jorgensen, CMC, Assistant City Clerk 1. Call To Order Council Chair Aguilar called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 2. City Council Staff Report A. Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations Owen gave updates regarding election information, timelines and action required by the City Council. Initiatives and referendums were also discussed. Discussion followed. 3. Land Use Committee A. Report from meeting on May 31, 2011. Erpenbach gave an update stating that the rental licensing ordinance is moving forward to the entire City Council for review. The mobile home ordinances are being reviewed. 4. City Council Open Discussion Aguilar stated that Item 5C will be heard prior to the other two items under Presentations. Rolfing gave recognition and paid tribute to Sioux Falls Senator Keith Paisley who passed away this week. Jamison stated that he will be making amendments to Item 53 on tonight's agenda at the 2nd reading of this item. His amendments will be focusing on roads. Karsky requested a point of personal privilege to announce that his son was married this weekend and that he has a new daughter-in-law in his family. His son's name is Derrick and his new bride is Kendra. Congratulations were given to them from the City Council. Anderson Jr. expressed appreciation to the Red Cross for their assistance with flood control at Dakota Dunes. Volunteers from all over the nation have come to assist the people in need and Kenny gave a 'huge thumbs up' for their dedication and unselfish service to others. Anderson Jr. went to Husets Speedway and watched the races last night. He encouraged the public to attend. 5. Presentations Item C was heard at this time. A. Rate Review for Public Works, Water, Street, Sanitary Landfill, and Lights by Mark Cotter, Director of Public Works; Steve Burian, AE2 Engineering; Blair Metzger, DGR Engineering, Fred Doran, RW Beck; and additional Public Works Department Managers B. Revisions to Parks and Recreation Fees (to be effective in 2012) by Don Kearney, Director of Parks and Recreation, Dave Fischer, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation and Alicia Luther, Recreation Manager C. Review Food Selling/Food Processing/Restaurant License Fee increases for 2012 Licenses by Amy Richardson, Health Finance and Informational Officer 6. Adjournment Council Chair Aguilar adjourned the meeting at 6:28 P.M. Tamara Jorgensen, CMC Assistant City Clerk
