MINUTES Monday, July 11, 2011 Informational Meeting 4:00 PM at Carnegie Town Hall Sioux Falls City Council 235 West Tenth Street Members Present: Sue Aguilar, Kenny Anderson Jr., Vernon Brown, James Entenman, Michelle Erpenbach, Greg Jamison, Dean Karsky, Rex Rolfing , Mike T. Huether Members Absent: None. Staff Present: Debra A, Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations and Jamie L. Palmer, CMC, Assistant City Clerk 1. Call To Order Council Chair Aguilar called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 2. City Council Staff Report A. Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations No report. 3. Fiscal Committee A. Report from meeting on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 Brown reported that the majority of the meeting was focused on contract authorization and said that the next Fiscal Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 18, 2011, immediately following the Informational meeting, to continue the contract discussion. 4. City Council Open Discussion Anderson Jr. gave a brief overview of the agenda for the Public Services Committee meeting which will occur immediately following this meeting. Aguilar introduced Mary Johns, a candidate for the Sioux Falls Library Director position, via teleconference call. Johns answered a few questions from the Council Members.  Jamison said that he has been working with the Sioux Falls Parks Department, Airport Authority, Air National Guard and the Games Fish and Parks Department about a Wildlife Management Plan. The Parks Board is reviewing the plan this month. The Airport Authority supports the plan. Jamison requested that the plan to be presented at an Informational or committee meeting. Aguilar assigned the topic to the Public Services Committee for their review. Rolfing spoke about the formation of the new country South Sudan. Brown said State Legislators are being invited to Sioux Falls on August 18, 2011. More information will be provided at a later date. Aguilar asked Darrin Smith, Director of Community Development to provide more information on Item 11 on this evening's agenda. Smith said the item is a Resolution to allow the city to submit an industrial park grant to help build North Bahnson Avenue Industrial Park 8. More information will be provided when the item is discussed this evening. 5. Presentations A. Sioux Falls Community Health Status Report by Jill Franken, Public Health Director and Alicia Collura, Assistant Director of Health Operations Jamison asked Jill Franken a question about a Daycare issue.
