MINUTES Tuesday, December 18, 2012 Informational Meeting 4:00 PM at Carnegie Town Hall Sioux Falls City Council 235 West Tenth Street Members Present: Sue Aguilar, Kenny Anderson Jr., James Entenman, Michelle Erpenbach, Greg Jamison, Dean Karsky, Rex Rolfing, Kermit L. Staggers, Mike T. Huether Members Absent: None Staff Present: Denise D. Tucker, CMC, Assistant City Clerk; Lorie Hogstad, CMC, City Clerk; Dave Bixler, Budget Analyst; and Jim David, Legislative/Operations Manager 1. Call To Order City Council Chair Michelle Erpenbach called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 2. Public Services Committee A. Report on meeting held Tuesday, December 11, 2012 Council Member Kenny Anderson Jr. said an update was provided on Project T.R.I.M. 3. City Council Open Discussion Erpenbach took a moment of privilege, on behalf of the City Council, to offer congratulations to Mike Sullivan, from the Sports Authority, on his retirement. Sullivan gave thanks to everyone for all that they have done for him and the Sports Authority. Council Member Kermit Staggers inquired if the International Building Codes, which are on tonight's meeting, went through the Public Services Committee. Erpenbach said it went through citizen committees. Staggers said it was a concern and that it should go through City Council committees. He wondered if the items should be deferred tonight. Mike Cooper, Director of Planning and Building Services, said this is done every three years and does not go through a committee of the Council, because they do a very extensive public review process. Discussion followed. Staggers said the snow gate issue is near the end of the meeting, on tonight's agenda; he asked if it could be moved up. Discussion followed.  Council Member Greg Jamison asked Anderson Jr. if the Public Services Committee discussed residents being in violation for the height of their trees, after Marion Road was widened. Jamison asked if there was any conversation about providing tree trimming services for arterial roads that have been redeveloped or rebuilt. Anderson Jr. said it was discussed and questions were forwarded to the Forestry Department. He said they will receive updates at the next Public Services Committee meeting. Anderson Jr. said over the last few weeks there have been issues with SIRE. He asked for an update from Media Services on what they are doing to resolve these issues. Erpenbach said it will be scheduled for the next Informational Meeting. 4. Presentations A. Monthly Events Center Project Update by the Administration B.
