MINUTES Informational Meeting Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 4:00 PM Carnegie Town Hall, 235 West 10th St., Sioux Falls, SD 57104 1. Call To Order Council Members Present: Miranda Basye, Sarah Cole, Rich Merkouris, Jennifer Sigette, Curt Soehl, Ryan Spellerberg, Richard L. Thomason Council Members Absent: David Barranco Council Chair Curt Soehl called the meeting to order at 4 p.m. 2. Committee/Commission Reports A. Metro Management Council: Thursday, June 13, 2024 (Council Members Cole and Soehl) Council Member Sarah Cole provided the report and stated that the two main areas of discussion were financials and staffing. 3. Councilor Remarks There was none. 4. Presentations A. May 2024 Financial Statements by Shawn Pritchett, Director of Finance Presentation: Approximately 10 minutes followed by discussion Shawn Pritchett, Director of Finance, provided the monthly report. Topics covered included: Unemployment; Job Openings & Unemployment (City MSA); Inflation; YTD Building Permit Valuations; Sioux Falls YTD Residential Permits (Units); Sales Tax Growth Less Audits; Sales Tax Collections Year-Over-Year Monthly Growth; Entertainment Tax Growth Less Audits; Industry Taxable Sales Data; Lodging Tax Receipts; BID Tax Receipts; General Fund - YTD Revenues; General Fund - YTD Expenditures; and Property Tax (presentation attached to the agenda). Discussion followed and Pritchett answered questions from the Council. 5. Public Comment There was none. 6. Executive Session A. Consulting with legal counsel or reviewing communications from legal counsel about proposed or pending litigation or contractual matters pursuant to SDCL 1-25- 2(3) A motion was made by Council Vice-Chair Merkouris and seconded by Council Member Cole to enter Executive Session for the purpose of Consulting with legal counsel or reviewing communications from legal counsel about proposed or pending litigation or contractual matters pursuant to SDCL 1-25-2(3) at 4:34 p.m. Roll call vote to enter Executive Session. 7 Yes: Basye, Cole, Merkouris, Sigette, Soehl, Spellerberg, Thomason; 0 No: (None). Motion Passed. Seeing no further business, the meeting was adjourned after the Executive Session at 5:10 p.m. 7. Adjournment Council Chair Curt Soehl adjourned the meeting at 5:10 p.m. Denise D.
