Public Services Committee Meeting

MINUTES Tuesday, May 14, 2013 Public Services Committee * 5:57 PM Carnegie Town Hall 235 West 10th Street Members Present: Council Member Sue Aguilar, Council Member Kenny Anderson Jr., Council Member Michelle Erpenbach, and Council Member Dean Karsky Members Absent: None Staff Present: Tamara Jorgensen, CMC, Assistant City Clerk; and Jim David, Legislative/Operations Manager 1. Call To Order Cal Committee Chair Kenny Anderson Jr. called the meeting to order at 5:57 p.m. 2. Review and approval of minutes dated March 12, 2013 A motion was made by Council Member Sue Aguilar and seconded by Council Member Michelle Erpenbach to approve the minutes. Anderson Jr. called for a voice vote and all members present voted yes. Motion Passed. 3. Review Draft of Board of Health Ordinance Revisions by Jill Franken, Public Health Director Jill Franken, Public Health Director, distributed and reviewed the proposed ordinance revising the Board of Health. She explained the background regarding the Sioux Falls Board of Health and the Falls Community Health Governing Board. Franken is recommending complete separation of the two boards. Discussion followed. A motion was made by Council Member Michelle Erpenbach and seconded by Council Member Dean Karsky to move this item forward to the full City Council for consideration. Anderson Jr. called for a voice vote. All members voted yes. Motion Passed. 4. Transit Fare and Operations Analysis by Sam Trebilcock, Transportation Planner Sam Trebilcock, Transportation Planner, reviewed the following items: a proposed Resolution limiting Paratransit service hours; minutes from the April 22, 2013 Public Transit Advisory Board; and a map illustrating the Sioux Area Metro Paratransit Trips. This subject was also reviewed at today’s Informational Meeting and additional information was provided at that time. Discussion followed. This resolution will be presented to the City Council at the meeting of Tuesday May 21, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. 5. Open Discussion Jim David, Legislative/Operations Manager, stated there will be a Sprinkler Task Force Meeting on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. at the Carnegie Town Hall, 235 W. 10th Street. 6. Adjournment A motion was made by Council Member Dean Karsky and seconded by Council Member Michelle Erpenbach to adjourn the meeting at 6:40 p.m. Anderson Jr. called for a voice vote and all members present voted yes.
