1. Call to order – 5:01p
2. Minutes – approved by Gerald Brown and Darryl Bowen
3. Welcome New members – Jessie Miller and Larry Scott
4. Discussion about the Summer Concert Series – Betty & The Bullet, also raffle ticket draws
for 2 events
5. Update on Sunnyside and Green Meadows Basketball Courts – paving should start this
week, hoop systems are in, H2O fountains should be in 8/12 or the week after. Would like
to do a park day at GCW on 7/31? Green Meadows on 8/7 maybe? Sunnyside in Sept.
Perhaps do GCW in-between the two events, mid-August instead? Jessie has a daughter in
Delaware 321, so she can help us with better organization with events. Larry said have a
light grand opening for the basketball courts at GM and Sunnyside, what is a good time
for those communities, and how we’ll get the word out.

6. Discuss Smyrna at Night/5K – will be Saturday 8/28, hoping to have the 5K before opening
at 12p. Hope to have a table set up.
a Copy of the 5K plan from AH
7. Discuss Recycling Program – Chairwoman Tabi Gott and Vice Mayor Valerie Forbes did a
tour of a DE recycling facility and DSWA said they’ll work with us on a new recycling
program; Recycle Right. Will be ending the Recycle Red and starting Recycle Right, around
8/28 and discuss during S@N.
8. Other committee business – Park openings and Family fun day, Smyrna at Night, approval
to close down half of Market to have a dancing on the square event, Sept-Oct. Vet Day
ceremony in Nov. Hoping to step up the program by inviting residents to register family for
recognition. Smyrna Police Dept. has a holiday tree lighting in Dec. the plan is to help
them. Across from Lake Como, maybe have the tree lighting there with a sign welcoming
people to downtown.
a Mike – Boy Scouts doing volunteer work and helping out. To form a partnership
and reach out to other youth organizations in the community. To be more
cohesive/together. Would be a great initiative and help get things done.
i He asked about the fence in Sunnyside Park. It’s going to be a while
coming down b/c of the tremendous concerns coming from the Bon Ayre
community.
b 4 Volleyballs, Dicks Sporting Goods may volunteer their work. A letter from the
town on what our P&R Committee does. Get that to Larry.
c Vice Chairman Gerald Brown – August’s Fun Day, sacks for bag races and water.
d Background check for volunteers need to be known 30 days in advanced for youth
sports.
e Staff liaison, Danielle Pope – let them know about the grants for the GCW
bathroom received
