Call to order
o Mayor Kalaj called to order the Village Board Meeting at 7:00 p.m. on February 8, 2021, via Zoom
Meeting #919 8429 4731 for the South Blooming Grove Village Hall located at 811 State Route 208,
within the Village of South Blooming Grove, and having a mailing address of Monroe, New York.
Roll call
The following persons were present:
o George Kalaj – Mayor
o Abraham Weiss – Deputy Mayor
o John L. Ross - Trustee
o Yitzchok Feldman– Trustee
o Johnny Belfort - Trustee
o Scott B. Ugell, Esq. – Village Attorney
Mayor’s Comments
o Highway department has been doing a fantastic job cleaning our streets. Thank you to IWS for
picking up garbage. Watermain break on 208 will be repaired in the first week of March. Our
engineer will come up with a plan to repair the drainage on Pine Hill road which causes an icing
situation. He is also looking in to grants to fund road projects. There is a meeting next Friday with
Assemblyman Schmitt with the mayor and one of the trustees. Special thanks to Supervisor
Jeroloman for helping coordinate the garbage pick up and for his advice concerning winter weather,
etc. All residents should sign up for our calling system.
Correspondence
o January 2021 Assemblyman Colin Schmitt regarding local bills and Home Rule requests and the
process.
Business
o none
Public Comment
o Brian Mullan – no parking on the street between November and April regardless of snow.
o Eric Vogelsberg – asked how constituents get answers to questions if they are not allowed to get
answers during the meeting.
o Joe Rosenfeld – commended the mayor on a great job plowing; asked of some road could be
widened; concerned with cars speeding.
o Sue Anne Vogelsberg – commended the mayor and highway dept. on a great job plowing; asked for
update on village vehicle; asked for update on Reliable Computer contract; does not get email

responses from the mayor; Moodna Creek consortium will be putting up more kiosks; concerned
with an Air B&B operating in the village.
o Christine Castellano – roads are narrow, and buses are speeding creating safety issues.
o Isaac Rottenberg – Mayor Kalaj and all administrators are always helpful; thank you and keep up the
good work.
o Simon Schwartz – thanked the mayor and board for effort during the snow storm; thank you for the
garbage pickup on Saturday.
Abstract
o Motion to adopt the Abstract by Mayor Kalaj, seconded by Deputy Mayor Weiss, 5 Ayes - Mayor
Kalaj, Trustee Weiss, Trustee Feldman and Trustee Ross and Trustee Belfort.
Trustee Comments
o Trustee Ross – asked the mayor if he has talked to any of the bus companies; he will join the mayor in
meeting Assemblyman Schmitt on Friday.
o Trustee Belfort – displeased with people impersonating others in Zoom chat; CSB did a phenomenal
job handling the storm; thank you to IWS for scheduling the Saturday garbage pickup; cars need to
slow down and be cognizant of pedestrians.

o Motion to close the meeting at 7:38 p.m. by Mayor Kalaj, seconded by Trustee Belfort, 5 Ayes -
Mayor Kalaj, Trustee Weiss, Trustee Feldman and Trustee Ross and Trustee Belfort.
