BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
South Milwaukee Common Council Chambers Committee Room
Thursday, September 12, 2019 @ 6:30 pm.
MINUTES
Members present: C. Kieck, J. Ove, J. Bzdawka, Dr. S. Scalzitti, L. Keller
Members excused: K. Drenzek, K. Stewart, V. Dominski
Members absent: P. Clark, M. Damon
1. C. Kieck called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm.
2. Agenda additions, announcements, information – add South Shore Community Health
Assessment survey and questions.
3. Keller/Bzdawka moved to approve the May 9, 2019 meeting minutes as they stand. All
voted aye. None opposed. Motion carried.
4. Medical Advisor Report.
2019 flu shots. Ascension just got first shipment today. Walgreens, CVS, other
pharmacies already have vaccine and are vaccinating.
Measles cases – none in WI.
Medical alert – vaping is bad for you. Milwaukee does have hospitalizations.
5. Public Health Administrator Report
Introduced Austin Krejci (in attendance) – UW-Green Bay nursing student working
toward BSN.
a. Statistics – see attached
b. Program updates - see attached
c. Spay/Neuter Release Ordinance – discussion on attached proposed draft for
Milwaukee County municipalities. Decided to hold further discussion until November
meeting.
d. Budget 2020 - explained attached proposed budget for 2020
Keller/Bzdawka moved to approve the proposed Health Department Budget 2020. All
voted aye. None opposed. Motion carried.
e. South Shore Community Health Assessment Survey – copies given to attendees to
complete.
Focus Group Questions also verbally asked of the group and their answers – see
attached.
