CITY OF SPEARFISH 625 Fifth Street, Spearfish S.D. 57783 Telephone: (605) 642-1333 Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Advisory Board – MINUTES Thursday, May 19, 2016 I City Hall – Council Chambers I 7:00 am APPROVAL OF AGENDA /APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Deferred to May Meeting Members/Staff Present-Jon, Karen, Barb, Dave, Chris, Charlie, Jordan, Keith and Alecia ITEMS FROM VISITORS  Lori and Randy Deibert from Kenadi Jean Weis Foundation Request for Recreation Equipment use for June 25th Karnival- Board Supported to waive $150 Fee for Charges- Barb moved, Charlie Seconded, All Approved- Randy abstained from vote.  Kaija Swisher from Spearfish Leadership group presented request for grants to support light the underpass trail from Nevada Street Lookout Mountain tunnel to Lookout. Future plans include writing grant to support cost and City will maintain after being built. Board supported and recommendation passed to Council. Jon moved, Karen Seconded, All Approve Randy abstained from vote.  Richard Larson from Rolling Hills Homeowners Association to support 73 families-Would like City to consider park development in this area. Association has $26,000 to put towards park development. Referred to attend May 26th Lands Task Force meeting. OLD BUSINESS  LOOKOUT ROOM UPDATE-Presentation- o Alecia was prepared to provide summary Randy wanted deferred until committee could present. Steve Williams is revising plans based on recommendation by Council and committee. Ready in June sometime. Ron was lead of group so new lead will need to be picked.  WATERPARK CLIMBING WALL- o Has Been Installed and looks great- Needed replaced  SALEM PARK- o All Inclusive Play Structure is completed- vandalism to bubble; Kenadi Jean Weis Foundation will pay for repair NEW BUSINESS  DONATION REQUEST- o Kenadi Jean Weis Foundation requested $100 for upcoming silent auction at Karnival on June 25th- Gifts cards and day passes will be used.
