Spearfish Planning Commission Regular Meeting Minutes Tuesday, March 21, 2017 The Spearfish Planning Commission met in regular session on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 3:03 p.m. in the council chambers of Spearfish City Hall. Members present: Toby Bordewyk, Dan Green, Jim Hopewell, Bob Meyer, Larry Vavruska and Barbara Zwetzig. Members absent: Greg Kruskamp. Also present: City Planner Jayna Watson. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bordewyk at 3:00 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Meyer moved, Zwetzig seconded and all voted to approve the minutes of the Planning Commission meeting of March 7, 2017 as presented. DECLARATION OF CONFLICTS OF INTEREST: Bordewyk asked for any potential conflicts of interest to be identified. Bordewyk disclosed his continued involvement with the Spearfish Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Board of Directors however no conflict of interest exists at this time. 1. A Request to Amend the Light/Restrictive Industrial District Zoning Ordinance Text Regarding setbacks and landscape requirements. Applicant: City of Spearfish. Location: All areas zoned Light/Restrictive Industrial. City Planner Jayna Watson summarized the information conveyed in her staff report dated March 21, 2017. Discussion ensued during which Meyer presented additional options for consideration. The commission agreed to move forward with a public hearing seeking input on both the staff recommendation option and the option presented by Meyer. Motion was made by Meyer, seconded by Green and all voted to set a public hearing for Tuesday, April 4, 2017 during which two options will be presented as possible amendments to the light/restrictive industrial zoning ordinance text. CITY COUNCIL ITEMS: Watson reported briefly on matters before the city council last night. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the commission, Bordewyk adjourned the meeting at 4:06 p.m.
