Spearfish Planning Commission Regular Meeting Minutes Tuesday, April 17, 2018 The Spearfish Planning Commission met in regular session on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the council chambers at Spearfish City Hall. Members present: Toby Bordewyk, Dan Green, Jim Hopewell, Greg Kruskamp, Bob Meyer, Drew Skjoldal, Larry Vavruska and Barbara Zwetzig. Absent: None. Also present: City Planner Jayna Watson, Assistant City Planner Desirae Mayo, City Administrator Mike Harmon and City Attorney Eric Davis. Chairman Zwetzig called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Vavruska moved to approve the minutes of the Planning Commission meeting of Tuesday, April 3, 2018 as presented. The motion was seconded by Kruskamp and passed unanimously. DECLARATION OF CONFLICTS OF INTEREST: Zwetzig asked for any potential conflicts of interest to be identified. None were declared. 1. Request for a Conditional Use Permit to Allow an Office in Single-Family Residential (R1) zoning. Applicant: Lisa Coolley – Cool Concepts Travel Inc. Location: E 70’ of Lots 1 & 2, Block 16, Original Town 745 N 11th Street City Planner Jayna Watson summarized the information presented in staff report pertaining to the applicant’s desire to operate a travel agency from a residence located at the southwest corner of the intersection of 11th Street and Jackson Boulevard. There was considerable discussion regarding parking requirements for this type of office use and the proposed layout for additional paved parking on the property. Motion was made by Skjoldal and seconded by Kruskamp to set a public hearing for Tuesday, May 1, 2018 to consider a request for a Conditional Use Permit to allow an office in a Single-Family Residential (R1) zoning district on property legally described as the E 70’ of Lots 1 & 2, Block 16, Original Town, located at 745 N 11th Street. Upon vote taken thereon, the motion passed unanimously. CITY COUNCIL UPDATE: Watson commented briefly on matters before the council at the meeting last evening. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the commission, Zwetzig adjourned the meeting at 3:45 p.m.
