Public Works Committee Minutes
January 14, 2020
The Public Works Committee met at 4:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall on Tuesday,
January 14, 2020 with the following members present: Clark and Herrmann. Absent: Hodgs. Also
present were: City Administrator Harmon, City Planner Watson, City Attorney McDonald, Public
Safety Director Rotert, City Finance Officer DeNeui, City Engineer Mathis, Recreation Facility
Superintendent, Wastewater Treatment Facility Superintendent Evridge, and Assistant City Planner
Van Holland.
City Administration
FYI – Council members/staff, please let Kaija know ASAP if you plan to attend the 2020
Legislative Rib Dinner and Municipal Government Day at the Legislature in Pierre on Feb 4-5,
2020.
Engineering
Recertification – Committee recommended to full council to sign the Community Rating System
(CRS) CC-213 Recertification, FEMA form 086-0-35A (4/17). This form is required to continue to
participate in the CRS and maintain the City’s class 9 classification which offers a 5% savings on
insurance premiums for residents with flood insurance.
Parks and Recreation
FYI – The 2020 Leadership Spearfish class will be presenting their class project idea to the full
council.
Public Works
Sell – Committee recommended to full council to authorize City staff to sell two dump-trucks (1998
Kenworth and 1994 Volvo) to the City of Belle Fourche for $25,000.
Surplus – Committee recommended to full council to surplus the attached list of items to be
auctioned, destroyed, salvaged/sold as scrap, traded in, transferred to another government agency,
or sold by sealed bid, and to appoint the following as appraisers: Neil Plocek, Dustin Lee, Rex
McDonald, Kelly Klein, Crystena Sieber, Nancy Hoffman, Leland Hanson, Lee Alberts, Dion Block,
Dennis Hafner, Brian Ulmer, Pat Rotert, Curt Jacobs, Rob Mathis, Wayne Alderman and Mike
Harmon.
Public Comment – Public comment section was opened at 4:18 p.m. and closed with no
comments.
There being no further discussion before the committee, the meeting was adjourned at 4:20 p.m.
