THE FOLLOWING MINUTES ARE SUBJECT TO MODIFICATION AND ARE NOT OFFICIAL MINUTES UNTIL APPROVED BY THE SPRING HILL PARKS ADVISORY BOARD Spring Hill Parks Advisory Board Meeting Minutes May 15, 2017 CALL TO ORDER Laila Reis called the meeting to order at 7:11 pm PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ROLL CALL Present: Laila Reis George Eshnaur Mark Squire Absent: Doug D’Albini, Darrell Beck Staff Present: Ryan Crowley, Parks Superintendent Meeting Attendees: None APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion by Mark Squire, seconded by George Eshnaur to approve the agenda. Motion carried. FORMAL BOARD ITEMS 1. Approval of Minutes: April 17, 2017 Motion by Laila Reis, seconded by George Eshnaur to approve the Minutes. Motion carried. DISCUSSION 2. Resident Questionnaire results were discussed. The results were found to indicate support for previous citywide surveys showing substantial support for trails. The questionnaire responses support neighborhood to neighborhood trails and facility to facility trails being of nearly the same importance. a. The board requested Ryan Crowley to provide a recommendation at the June meeting for approval before it is presented to the City Council. 3. Fishing Derby 2017 will be held at Melvin Murry ponds in the Woodland Ridge subdivision on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 9am-12pm. The Parks Advisory Board will participate with a casting contest. 4. Fall Festival 2017 discussion was tabled until June 19, 2017. Contracts for KDHE waste tire grants were signed by Mayor Ellis at the last Council Meeting. The grants will provide 50/50 matching for rubber mulch playground surface up to $11,133.40 at City Park and up to $5,834.40 at Veteran’s Park. ANNOUNCEMENTS & REPORTS None OTHER BUSINESS  Mark Squire requested total tonnage in recycling efforts for the last year including the ripple glass recycling. Ryan Crowley will provide information at the June meeting.  Tree City USA growth award will be in discussed in detail in June.  Daffodil Days event was successful. In 2017 soil testing kits were provided in 2018 information on composting would be beneficial. ADJOURN Motion by Mark Squire, seconded by Laila Reis to adjourn. Motion carried.
