CALL TO ORDER
Doug D’Albini called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion by Laila Reis, seconded by George Eshnaur to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
FORMAL BOARD ITEMS
1. Approval of Minutes: September 18, 2017
Motion by Laila Reis, seconded by George Eshnaur to approve minutes. Motion carried.
DISCUSSION
2. Lake Rules – Mr. Crowley provided research materials for surrounding City’s lakes that are
comparable in size to gain ideas for the new lake rules to be implemented at Veteran’s Park.
Members have been asked to provide their comments at the November meeting. In December
a final draft of new lake rules for Veteran’s Park will be reviewed. The Parks Advisory Board is
expected to make a recommendation to the City Council in January 2018.
3. Spring Hill Young Professionals Carnival will be held October 19, 2017 at the Community Center
from 6pm-8pm. The Parks Advisory Board will be participating to bring awareness to the Parks
Advisory Board.

4. Fall Festival Event “Junkyard Treasures Contest” was not as successful as the previous year.
There were 2 participants. Members suggested having a secondary activity at the booth if the
recycling contest continues.
a. Ideas to encourage participation included: asking art teachers to compete against each
other in the contest to encourage students.
b. Moving the Junkyard Treasures Contest to Daffodil Days.
c. Asking a local business to help with the booth and discuss yard maintenance and
planting.
5. Special Event Recycling – Mr. Squire participated in the Fall Festival recycling efforts and proudly
reported the majority of the recycle bin contents was correct. Residents showed the desire and
ability to recycle when it was made available and clearly labeled. Mr. Squire encouraged the
Board to continue seeking recycling opportunities at community events.
Mr. Crowley provided contact and cost information that will be given to applicants for special
events.
The Board was in agreement to continue to help provide recycling at Daffodil Days and the Fall
Festival.
6. Meeting scheduled for November 20th and December 18th. There will be a photo of the Board at

STAFF REPORTS
Veteran’s Park final concept drawing has been provided by Vireo for staff review. The Parks
Division plans to begin the playground in February 2018 with a completion date in April 2018.
There will be a budget request for an updated Parks Master Plan in 2019.
