As part of St. Michaels’ celebra4on of America 250, Parks & Recrea4on Advisory Board is
reques4ng support to enhance visitor experience and community pride. We are seeking funding
for a one-year subscrip4on to Proxi Maps to create an interac4ve digital guide for our self-
guided “Parks and Poles” History Walk, allowing residents and visitors to explore town parks,
flagpoles, and historic sites via GPS-triggered audio, photos, and narra4ves. Addi4onally, we
request funds for materials to “dress up” the town (flags, bun4ng, banners, and patrio4c
decora4ons) during the preparatory “Clean Up and Dress Up” day on June 6. The total
requested amount and breakdown are provided in the aWached screenshot from our Excel
budget. Your support would help make this patrio4c, educa4onal event more engaging,
accessible, and visually welcoming—boos4ng tourism and showcasing St. Michaels as a vibrant
Maryland community.

St. Michaels Flag Day
A Maryland250 Signature Community Event
Proposed Dates: Friday–Sunday, June 6–14
Location: Town of St. Michaels, Maryland
Organized By: St. Michaels Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
In Partnership With: Residents, local businesses, civic groups, and volunteers
Event Overview
The St. Michaels Flag Day & History Celebration is a community-wide series of events honoring Flag Day,
American history, and local heritage. Launching as part of Maryland250, this initiative is designed to engage
residents, visitors, and businesses through volunteerism, civics education, and patriotic celebration.
Across multiple days in June, St. Michaels will be unified by red, white, and blue décor, music, and family-
friendly activities that connect local, state, and national history.
“Clean Up and Dress Up The Town”
Saturday, June 6
The celebration will officially kick off with a town-wide volunteer and beautification effort.
Sponsored by:
St. Michaels Parks & Recreation, in conjunction with the Rotary Club, the Daughters of the American
Revolution (DAR), and St. Michaels in Bloom.
Activities include:
• Town clean-up and beautification projects
• Decorating public spaces, storefronts, and neighborhoods with:
o American flags and bunting
o Red, white, and blue decorations
o Maryland250-themed décor
Residents, businesses, and civic organizations will be encouraged to participate, creating a festive and
welcoming atmosphere throughout St. Michaels.
“Concert in the Park”
Thursday, June 11 – Muskrat Park
A special edition of the regularly scheduled Concert in the Park series.

St. Michaels Community Center in collaboration with Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
Features:
• Live performance by the United States Naval Academy Band
• Red, white, and blue decorations throughout the park
• Enhanced family-friendly atmosphere with games and activities for children
This event blends patriotic celebration with one of St. Michaels’ most popular community traditions.
“Parks and Poles”
Saturday, June 13
A self-guided walking tour through the Town of St. Michaels highlighting local and state history. 13 stops to
represent the 13 original colonies/states. Stops will highlight the natural beauty of our town parks and the
different flag poles located throughout the town. Parks included are Muskrat Park, Hollis Park, Frederick
Douglas Park, Bradley Park, Back Creek Park, Nature Trail, and St Mary’s Square.
Organized by:
St. Michaels Parks & Recreation, St. Michaels Museum, and Talbot County public schools.
Event details:
• Self-guided walking route through parks, trails, and historic areas
• Multiple interpretive stations featuring:
o Local and Maryland history
o Stories tied to St. Michaels’ heritage
o Educational information about the American flag and Flag Day
• Designed for individuals, families, and groups to explore at their own pace

“Picnic and Parade” – Flag Day Signature Event
Sunday, June 14
The signature Flag Day celebration will take place on the Miles River.
Highlights include:
Flag Day Boat Parade – 1:00-2:00
• Patriotic boat parade featuring vessels decorated in:
o Red, white, and blue
o American flags and bunting
• A highly visible, uniquely St. Michaels celebration on the water emphasizing unity, respect for the flag, and
shared American values without political affiliation.
Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM)
• CBMM will open its grounds 10:00-5:00 free of charge for parade viewing and picnic activities.
• Guests may bring:
o Picnic lunches
o Coolers
• A relaxed, family-friendly setting to enjoy the parade and celebrate Flag Day
• Field Day games (three-leg race, balloon toss, potato sack race, etc..) by the YMCA
• Performance by a U.S. military band (actual band TBD)
