Minutes of Tuesday, November 4 , 2014 Meeting
Location: Sterling Heights City Hall, 40555 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, MI

Members Present: Ron Bindle, David Bollman, Frank DiMaria, Grace Finazzo,
Margaret Frontiera, Donald Schinzing, John Stampor, Shawn Taylor, Mona
Yassine
Members Absent: Maurice Batarseh, Jan Burns, Jeanne Schabath
Representing the City: Steve Guitar & Karen Kazmer
Meeting called to order at 6 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES :
Motion to approve the meeting minutes of the October 7, 2014 Cultural
Commission made by John Stampor.
Seconded by: Frank DiMaria Ayes: all Nays: none
AGENDA ITEMS :
A. Featured Artist
A media release will be sent out regarding the Featured Artist Program.
B. Memorial Day Parade
Board members reviewed guidelines for judging of bands in the
parade.
Board members will construct signs for bands to play in front of
SHTV staging.
Ron Bindle will prepare a checklist for judging of bands.
Board members brainstormed on a theme for 2015 Memorial Day
Parade.
Motion to accept the theme for the 2015 Memorial Day Parade as
“150th Commemoration of the End of the Civil War” made by Ronald
Bindle.
Seconded by: John Stampor Ayes: all Nays: none
Don Schinzing will investigate candidates for Grand Marshal;
Grand Marshal will be a descendent of a Civil War Veteran living
in Sterling Heights.
Parade application will state floats should reflect theme of
parade.
OLD BUSINESS:
Ron Bindle reminded board members of the Christmas party he will be
hosting on December 19th; Karen Kazmer will email invites.
NEW BUSINESS:
Don Schinzing will coordinate an outing to the Detroit area to tour the
sculpture/glass blowing facility where the sons of Elaine Norine work.
David Bollman sculpted a bust of Mayor Notte. Mr. Bollman will make
a presentation to the Community Foundation since the Foundation will
be spearheading a tribute to Mayor Notte.
Motion to adjourn at 6:30 p.m. made by Margaret Frontiera.
