STERLING HEIGHTS CULTURAL COMMISSION Minutes of Tuesday, March 3, 2015 Meeting Location: Sterling Heights City Hall, 40555 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48313, Conference Room 202 Members Present: Jan Burns, Frank DiMaria, Grace Finazzo, Margaret Frontiera, Jeanne Schabath, Donald Schinzing, Shawn Taylor Members Absent: Maurice Batarseh, Ron Bindle, David Bolllman, John Stampor, Mona Yassine Representing the City: Bridget Doyle & Karen Kazmer Meeting called to order at 6 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES : Motion to approve the meeting minutes of the February 3, 2015 Cultural Commission made by Frank DiMaria. Seconded by: Jeanne Schabath Ayes: all Nays: none AGENDA ITEMS : A. Featured Artist  Dominic Orow resubmitted his application and pictures of his artwork for Featured Artist.  Motion to select Dominic Orow as Featured Artist for April & May 2015 made by Jeanne Schabath. Seconded by: Margaret Frontiera Ayes: 5 Nays: 1 Abstain: 1 Seconded by: Frank DiMaria Ayes: all Nays: none B. Memorial Day Parade  A letter to Mr. Richard Shoonover inviting him to be Parade Honorary Grand Marshal was mailed.  Frank DiMaria stated the individual he recommended as 2016 Parade Grand Marshal served as grand marshal in 2011; members agreed it was too soon to select him again.  All parade applications have been mailed and are posted on the City’s website; deadline for applications is April 17th. C. Sterlingfest  Applications for Sterlingfest have been mailed and are posted on the City’s website. OLD BUSINESS:  City Council members will vote on the proposed name change of the Cultural Commission to Arts Commission at this evening’s council meeting.  Bridget Doyle stated a picture of commission members will be taken at the May meeting. Motion to adjourn at 6:30 p.m. made by Margaret Frontiera.
