STERLING HEIGHTS ARTS COMMISSION Minutes of Wednesday, November 4 , 2015 Meeting Location: Sterling Heights City Hall, 40555 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48313, Conference Room 101 Members Present: Ron Bindle, Jan Burns, Frank DiMaria, Grace Finazzo, Margaret Frontiera, Jeanne Schabath, John Stampor, Mona Yassine Members Absent: Maurice Batarseh, David Bollman, Donald Schinzing, Shawn Taylor Representing the City: Bridget Doyle, Karen Kazmer Meeting called to order at 6:00 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES : Motion to approve the meeting minutes of the October 6, 2015 Art Commission made by John Stampor. Seconded by: Grace Finazzo Ayes: all Nays: none AGENDA ITEMS : A. Memorial Day Parade  Commission members discussed themes for parade.  Motion to select “Forget Me Not” as the 2016 Memorial Day Parade theme made by Ron Bindle. Seconded by: Jeanne Schabath Ayes: all Nays: none  Parade route will change in 2016 due to road construction; Community Relations will meet with Engineering and share findings with Art Commission. B. Featured Artist  No applications received  Commission members suggested artists in Sterlingfest be contacted regarding applying for this program. C. Oracle Fund  Frank DiMaria requested Dr. Martin Brown, President of the Sterling Heights Community Foundation, attend the January 2016 Art Commission meeting to discuss the Art Commission Endowment Fund.  Monies from Oracle Fund will be used cleaning and painting of sculptures  Plaques will be purchased for each sculpture OLD BUSINESS:  Ron Bindle reminded commission members of the Christmas Party at his home on Saturday, December 19th, at 7 p.m. NEW BUSINESS:   Bridget Doyle stated the City will address a Public Art Plan at the Strategic Planning Meeting in early 2016; details of plan will be shared with Art Commission.
