STERLING HEIGHTS ARTS COMMISSION Minutes of Tuesday, May 2, 2017 Meeting Location: Sterling Heights City Hall, 40555 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48313, SHTV Studio Members Present: Ron Bindle, David Bollman, Jan Burns, Frank DiMaria, Jazmine Early, Grace Finazzo, Jeanne Schabath, John Stampor, Stacy Ziarko Members Absent: Judi Dent, Jeanne Schabath, Mona Yassine Representing the City: Bridget Kozlowski, Karen Kazmer Meeting called to order at 6:00 APPROVAL OF MINUTES : Motion to approve the meeting minutes of the April 4, 2017 Art Commission made by Grace Finazzo. Seconded by: Frank DiMaria Ayes: all Nays: none AGENDA ITEMS : A. Memorial Day Parade  The list of assignments for the parade. A list will be sent out prior to the parade.  Volunteers will be needed to assist. B. Sterling fast  bd’s Mongolian BBQ has committed sponsorship will be a sponsor for the race. C. Children ’s Art Program  Due to upcoming events, the proposed Children’s Art Program will be tabled and discussed at the September meeting. D. Art in the Park  June 15th and July 20th are scheduled dates for Art in the Park for adult participants.  Community Relations will promote Art in the Park after hearing from the owner of the studio. E. Sterlingfest  Artist applications were juried this evening; letters to all applicants will be mailed in the next few weeks. OLD BUSINESS:  Public Art Program  The proposed Public Art Program will be voted on at the May 3, 2017 City Council meeting.  If approved, the scheduling of cleaning of current sculptures, new plaques and programming will be discussed.  Detroit Design Center will be invited to the June Art Commission meeting. A trip to the center will be planned for late summer/early fall. Motion to adjourn meeting at 750 p.m. made by Ron Bindle.
