Minutes of Meeting
I. Call to Order
Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.
II. Roll Call
Present: John Connor, Frank DiMaria, Douglas J. Harvey,
Meaghan Mott, Jeff Norgrove
Absent: Ruthann Schinzing, Scott Townsend
Staff Present: Tammy Turgeon
III. Approval of Agenda
Motion made by DiMaria to approve the agenda, seconded by Mott.
Motion carried.
IV. Minutes of February 7, 2013
Minutes of the February 7, 2013 meeting were approved on a motion
by DiMaria, supported by Connor. Motion carried.
V. Communications/Reports/Correspondence
Commission members continue to receive local historical groups’
newsletters forwarded to them via email.
VI. Unfinished Business
A. Winter/Spring Magazine Article
Norgrove indicated that he would be willing to write an article
for the next magazine.
B. Historical Commission Program Wrapup
12 attendees were at the program in May. It was suggested that
Mott contact Pat Holman to do a program on Utica/Shelby history
next May.
C. Historical Display in Library
Harvey will work on a display of the History of Farming in Sterling
Township for January 2014. Turgeon will see if display case can
be moved to the first floor outside of the bookstore. Thanks to
Connor for creating the Spring/Summer display. Items will be
removed from the case this month.
D. Clippings and Scrapbook
Turgeon indicated that the library can always use help with the
historical scrapbook. Contact Debbie Vercellone at the library if
you are interested. She will train you and then you can come
anytime the library is open.
E. Macomb County Heritage Alliance – Patch Program
Commissioners felt that this was a good program for scouts and
asked if the MCHA was going to do outreach to these groups. Sold
a few patches during Sterlingfest.
F. Sterlingfest Wrapup
Four hours on Friday and Saturday seemed to work well.
769 visitors total. 19 entries for the contest.
VII. New Business
A. Macomb County Heritage Alliance Membership
Motion to join the Macomb County Heritage Alliance for one year
was made by Connor, supported by Norgrove. Motion carried.
B. Macomb County Heritage Alliance Bylaws
Motion to approve the Macomb County Heritage Alliance
Bylaws was made by Norgrove, supported by Connor. Motion
carried. The decision to appoint a representative to the MCHA
was delayed until the November 7, 2013 meeting.
C. Sterling Christmas
Sterling Christmas will be held on December 7, 2013 from
6 – 8:30 p.m. All Commissioners are expected to attend.
Norgrove and friend will dress in period costumes.

IX. Adjourn
A motion was made by DiMaria to adjourn, seconded by Harvey.
Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7 p.m.
