Sterling Heights Historical Commission November 25, 2013 40433 Utica Road Sterling Heights, MI 48313 Minutes of Meeting I. Call to Order Meeting was called to order at 6:10 p.m. II. Roll Call Present: John Connor, Frank DiMaria, Meaghan Mott, Jeff Norgrove, Ruthann Schinzing Absent: Douglas J. Harvey, Scott Townsend Staff Present: Tammy Turgeon III. Approval of Agenda Motion made by DiMaria to approve the agenda, seconded by Connor. Motion carried. IV. Minutes of September 5, 2013 Minutes of the September 5, 2013 meeting were approved on a motion by DiMaria, supported by Connor. Motion carried. V. Communications/Reports/Correspondence Commission members continue to receive local historical groups’ newsletters forwarded to them via email. Norgrove spoke to a student needing assistance with school project on the history of Sterling Heights. Norgrove and Connor asked that they be called if there is any correspondence that needs a quick answer. VI. Unfinished Business A. Winter/Spring Magazine Article Thank you to Norgrove for writing the article for the city’s Winter/Spring magazine. B. Historical Display in Library Harvey is working on a display for January. Turgeon is working on moving the case to the first floor by the Friends bookstore. Norgrove will do a military display for July – December. C. Clippings and Scrapbook Mott is interested in helping with scanning of photos. Turgeon will have Vercellone contact her. D. Sterling Christmas The Upton House will be open at 6pm on Saturday, December 7th for Sterling Christmas. Commissioners should arrive at 5:45pm E. Macomb County Heritage Alliance Turgeon will attend the next MCHA meeting in January in Eastpointe. F. Date Plaque Program Turgeon is still working on the finalization of this program. VII. New Business A. 2014 Proposed Meeting Dates Motion to approve the 2014 Historical Commission meeting dates was made by Norgrove, supported by Connor. Motion carried. B. Summer Magazine Article Mott volunteered to do the next article for the city magazine. This will be due in February. VIII.Communications from Citizens None IX.
