MINUTES STERLING HEIGHTS HOUSING COMMISSION April 10, 2012 Call To Order by President Miller at 6:06 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation. Roll Call. Present: Miller, Suwinski, and Walker. Absent: Dunlop (excused) and Venetis (excused). Also Present: Executive Director Stephanie Burgess, Regional Manager Sabrina Gaddy, Service Coordinator Kristen Kovach, Manager Rachel Tononi, and Maintenance Supervisor Jim Francis. Approval of Agenda. Moved by Walker, support by Suwinski, to approve agenda as amended to include the subordination request for Ayman Takla and Hanan Amin, 37078 Hacker Drive as Business Item #4. Ayes: All. Approval of Minutes. Moved by Suwinski, support by Walker, to approve the March 13, 2012 minutes as presented. Ayes: All. Executive Director Report. Nothing to report. Service Coordinator Report. The Service Coordinator assisted 153 residents in March. Programs for the month of March included an "Emergency Prepardness" program by the Sterling Heights Fire Department, a St. Patrick’s Day party by the Resident Council, and delivery of fresh produce by MCCSA/Gleaners Food Pantry. Public Housing Report. Schoenherr Towers was 99% occupied with 39 applicants on the waiting list, 24 leasing calls received. Marketing action was taken through the City of Sterling Heights website and newsletter and Craig’s List. Section 8 Report. Currently all vouchers are leased and/or issued. Maintenance Report. There were 5 emergency service requests, 39 year-to-date. There were 167 service requests, 898 year-to-date. Two service requests were outstanding. Bids for canopy roof replacement and the office HVAC system are due back April 23, 2012. Business. 1. Housing Assistance Program Register & Utility Payables. Moved by Suwinski, support by Walker to approve the Housing Assistance payments as presented by Fourmidable. Ayes: All. 3. Lawn Care Services. Moved by Suwinski, support by Walker, to award the lawn care contract to Lockhart’s Landscaping, whose address is 27919 Roy, St. Clair Shores, MI 48081 in the amount of $9,240.00 for the 2012 program year. Ayes: All. 4. Subordination Request – Ayman Takla and Hanan Amin 37078 Hacker Drive. Moved by Suwinski, support by Walker to accept to subordinate the City’s position to Flagstar Bank and direct the Executive Director to sign the subordination agreement. Ayes: All.
