STERLING HEIGHTS HOUSING COMMISSION
January 8, 2013
Call To Order by President Miller at 6:02 p.m.
Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation.
Roll Call. Present: Mattera, Miller, Suwinski, and Walker. Absent: Venetis. Also Present:
Executive Director Stephanie Burgess, Regional Manager Sabrina Gaddy, Manager Rachel
Tononi, Maintenance Supervisor Jim Francis and Service Coordinator Kristen Kovach.
Approval of Agenda. Moved by Mattera, support by Suwinski, to approve agenda. Ayes: All.
Approval of Minutes. Moved by Suwinski, support by Walker, to approve the December 11,
2012 minutes. Ayes: All.
Election of Officers.
Miller nominated for President. Miller accepted. Motion by Suwinski, support by Walker to elect
Miller President. Ayes: All. Walker nominated for Vice President. Walker accepted. Motion by
Suwinksi, support by Miller to elect Walker Vice President. Ayes: All. Suwinski nominated for
secretary. Suwinski accepted. Motion by Mattera, support by Walker to elect Suwinski secretary.
Ayes: All.
Re-appointment of Executive Director. Moved by Miller, support by Suwinski, to appoint
Stephanie Burgess Executive Director for 2013. Ayes: All.
Executive Director Report.
Ms. Burgess advised the residents that exterior windows would be washed early 2013.
Ms. Burgess provided the results from the smoke free housing survey. There were 106
responses. Seventy-one residents were in favor of a smoke free policy. Twenty-nine residents
against and six had no preference. In response to the survey results Ms. Burgess would draft a
smoke free housing policy for introduction at the February 12, 2013 meeting.
Monthly Financial Reports.
Moved by Mattera, support by Suwinski to approve the November 2012 Monthly Operating
Summaries. Ayes: All.
Moved by Walker, support by Suwinski to approve the November 2012 Section 8 Voucher
Program Operating Summaries. Ayes: All.
Service Coordinator Report.
Eighteen residents utilized the Service Coordinator during December 2012. Special events
included the Annual Holiday Dinner (68 attendees) and the Christmas Concert (30 residents).
Public Housing Report.
Schoenherr Towers was 99% occupied with 46 applicants on the waiting list, 22 leasing calls
received. Marketing action was taken through the City of Sterling Heights website, Sterling
Heights Senior Center, and the Macomb County Housing sheet.
Section 8 Report.
Currently all vouchers are leased.
Maintenance Report.
There were 11 emergency service requests, 27 year-to-date. There were 121 service requests, 432
year-to-date. Four service requests are outstanding one of which is a unit turnover. Emergency
clean up from the fire is nearly complete. Staff was working on soliciting bids for the repairs.

the monthly management reports as presented by
Fourmidable. Ayes: All.
2. Housing Assistance Program Register & Utility Payables.
Moved by Mattera, support by Suwinski to approve the
Housing Assistance payments as presented by Fourmidable.
Ayes: All.
3. Physical Activity Consent Policy
Moved by Suwinski, support by Walker to approve the
revised Physical Activity Consent Policy under resolution
2013-1-1. Ayes: All
4. Reasonable Modification Policy
Moved by Suwinski, support by Walker to approve the
revised the Reasonable Modification Policy under resolution
2013-1-2. Ayes: All
Public Participation.
February resident activities including a Punchki Day and Valentine’s Day cupcakes were
announced.
