Consent Agenda - An ordinance to appropriate an amount not to exceed $400,000 from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the General Fund for the establishment of a debt service reserve fund to support the City’s financing agreement with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development – Second Reading Approved 7-0 9. Public Hearing - A public hearing will be held regarding the following: - A resolution requesting the General Assembly to amend the Charter of the City of Suffolk to provide for the direct election of the Mayor - An ordinance amending Chapter 26 entitled “Elections”, of the Code of the City of Suffolk, Virginia, changing the election of City Council Members and School Board Members from May to the general election in November A motion to schedule a public hearing at the November 1, 2006, City Council meeting regarding the request to the General Assembly to amend the Charter of the City of Suffolk to provide for the direct election of the Mayor.
