AGENDA SUFFOLK PLANNING COMMISSION MAY 19, 2009 2:00 P.M. 1. Call to Order A. Invocation B. Roll Call 2. Approval of minutes from previous meeting 3. Public Hearings: A. REZONING REQUEST RZ2-09, initiated by the City of Suffolk, for a change in zoning from M2, Heavy Industrial District, to RC, Residential Compact District, for approximately 2.2 acres. The subject parcels are located on Clary’s Drive and are further identified as Tax Map 34G19(A), Parcels 95 through 104, Nansemond Voting Borough. B. CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT REQUEST C15-08, submitted by Warren C. and Kathryn L. Dewitt, property owners, for an after-the-fact detached accessory dwelling unit on approximately 1.24 acres in accordance with Sections 31-306, 31-406, and 31- 701(b)(13) of the Unified Development Ordinance. The affected parcel is located at 1608 Tautog Road and is further identified as Tax Map 4, Parcel 15A, Chuckatuck Voting Borough, zoned RL, Residential Low Density. C. EXCEPTION REQUEST EX2-09, submitted by Mark S. and Bonnie M. Drake, property owners to permit an encroachment of a detached single family dwelling and associated driveway into a portion of the 100-foot Resource Protection Area (RPA) buffer. The affected property is located at 1648 Ronald Drive and is further identified as Tax Map 33C (2) Parcel 12*12A, Holy Neck Voting Borough, zoned RLM, Residential Low-Medium Density Zoning District. D. ORDINANCE TEXT AMENDMENT OA2-09, initiated by the Suffolk Planning Commission for additions and amendments to Chapter 31, Article 7, Supplemental Use Regulations, Section 31-714, Sign Regulations; Article 4, Zoning, Section 31- 412(h)(2)(D), Special Corridor Overlay District, Limitation of Signs; and Appendix ‘A’, Definitions of the Unified Development Ordinance for the purpose of amending and adopting regulations pertaining to the type, placement and physical dimensions of signs within the different zoning districts and to continue to permit such signs so as to not endanger the public safety of individuals; confuse, mislead or obstruct vision necessary for traffic safety; nor otherwise endanger public health, safety and welfare. 4.
