CALL TO ORDER
Chair Koppel called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. in the Community Center
Board Room.

Chair Koppel led the salute to the flag.

17-0327 Approval of the Draft Meeting Minutes of February 15, 2017
Commissioner Lawson moved and Vice Chair Kiphuth seconded the motion to
approve the Consent Calendar as presented. The motion was carried by the
following vote:

PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS
2 17-0250 Approve Art in Private Development Project - Jay Paul
Company/Moffett Towers II
Artist, Cliff Garten and Jay Paul Co. representatives provided a detailed
presentation of the three sculptures that will be located in the outdoor activities
areas at Moffet Towers II. The three sculpture environments will be similar in
appearance and include lighting, benches and walkways through each of the site
locations.
Mr. Garten responded to Commissioners' questions regarding the type of lighting,
the dimensions of each sculpture and the artist's inspiration of the artwork.
Chair Koppel opened the item for public comment, and there being no public
comments, closed the public hearing.
Commissioner Lawson moved, and Commissioner Kiphuth seconded, the motion to
approve the Art in Private Development project. The motion carried with the
following vote:

3 17-0325 Approve Master Work Plan
Superintendent Wax provided an overview the draft work plan.
Chair Koppel opened the item for public comment, and there being no public
comments, closed the public hearing.
Commissioner Lawson moved, and Commissioner Kiphuth seconded, the motion to
approve the work plan. The motion carried with the following vote:

4 17-0326 Hands on the Arts Commission Participation
Community Services Manager, Trenton Hill, provided an overview of the Hands on
the Arts Festival including the goals, types of artists and volunteer participation.
Community Services Coordinator, Kristen Dance, provided details of the various
workshops and activities at the festival that Commissioners may be interested in
coordinating.
Staff answered Commissioners' questions regarding recruitment of artists and
volunteers, and having additional performing arts activities available.

NON-AGENDA ITEMS & COMMENTS
-Commissioner Comments
Commissioners stated there are housing cooperatives in Santa Cruz, Berkeley and
San Francisco that may be additional resources for artists.
-Staff Comments
Community Services Manager, Trenton Hill, announced the Evenings of Cultural
Arts at the Sunnyvale Theater is wrapping up their season with a Johnny Cash
tribute on April 1.
