CALL TO ORDER
Chair Manitakos called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in the West Conference
Room.

Transportation and Traffic Manager Jack Witthaus introduced Carol Shariat,
Principal Transportation Engineer/Planner.
PRESENTATION
14-0597 PRESENTATION - Presentation by Mayor Jim Griffith -
Recognition of Commissioners’ Service
Mayor Griffith presented the Years of Service Certificates to the BPAC members.
Chair Manitakos appreciated the BPAC support throughout the year and thanked
the members. Vice Chair Jackson stated that he incourages public support.
PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS
Vice Chair Jackson announced that 103 helmets were distributed during the Public
Safety Bicycle Rodeo; the Climate Action Plan was approved; he then updated the
Commission on the VTA BPAC anti-harrasment ordinance; he gave a reminder

Commission
about the upcoming Mathilda/237 Study Session, announced the SCT draft study in
July and gave an update regarding AB 1193 protected bicycle lanes.

PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS
2 14-0560 Appointment to the Santa Clara Valley Transportation
Authority (VTA) Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee
Chair Manitakos commented on the role of the VTA BPAC representative.The item
was discussed by the Commissioners and they agreed to reappoint David Simons
as the VTA BPAC representative for the upcoming two-year term that starts July 1,
2014.
Commissioner Switzer moved and Vice Chair Jackson seconded the motion to
reappoint David Simons as the VTA BPAC representative. The motion carried by
the following vote:

3 14-0630 Utility Bill Stuffer Discussion
Jack Witthaus, Transportation and Traffic Manager, will send the BPAC members a
copy of the Utility Bill stuffer. Commissioner Welch suggested making all stuffers
available on line as a PDF file. The utility bill stuffer item will be reviewed again in
the July meeting.
NON-AGENDA ITEMS & COMMENTS
Chair Manitakos noted that there are no BPAC comments available on the web. Mr.
Witthaus stated that there is a new procedure being developed to reference
comments on the web.
Vice Chair Jackson relayed concerns of Ralph Durham, Private Citizen, regarding
Duane Avenue. He then stated that BPAC should consider reviewing the
Mathilda/237 project. The following items were also discussed by the BPAC
members: Borregas Bridge missing sidewalk, Return of the Action Items List,
Lucile Packard Building at Fremont/85, and Study Issue - Street parking not
allowing sufficient width for parking.
