21-0373 Proposals for CDBG and General Fund Human Services
Funding for FY 2021/22 and FY 2022/23, and for
CDBG/HOME Capital Project Loans for FY 2021/22
Leif Christiansen, Housing Programs Analyst, gave an short introduction
The following representatives gave 3-minute presentations to introduce the
programs that they are proposing to fund with Sunnyvale's CDBG and General
Fund grants to provide services to Sunnyvale residents:

Chair Hiremath asked if there was any discussion needed on the consent calendar
item, or a motion.
MOTION: Commissioner Gilbert moved and Commissioner Kwok seconded the
motion to Approve the Consent Calendar comprised of the Housing and Human
Services Commission Minutes of January 27, 2021 as submitted.

PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS
2 21-0067 Consider Approval of Draft Third Substantial Amendment to
the 2019 Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Action Plan
Leif Christiansen, Housing Programs Analyst, provided the staff report.
Chair Hiremath asked if there were any questions of staff by any of the
commissioners. He then opened and closed the public hearing at 8:35 p.m. No
members of the public asked to speak.
After a short discussion and clarifying questions of staff, Chair Hiremath asked for a
motion.
MOTION: Commissioner Gilbert moved and Vice Chair Stetson seconded the
motion to approve Alternative 1: Recommend that the City Council Approve the
Third Substantial Amendment to the 2019 Action Plan as shown in Attachment 3 of
the staff report.
The motion carried by the following vote:

Staff shared with commissioners that the City Council Budget and Study Issues
Workshop was scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 25. During this all-day
meeting, City Council discusses and ranks any proposed issues submitted
throughout the previous year.

-Commissioner Comments
Commissioners had some procedural questions regarding the next steps in the
process to decide on funding for the agencies that presented earlier in the meeting.
-Staff Comments
Staff gave a brief overview of the process timeline and noted that funding
recommendation will be presented at the next meeting for the commissioners
consideration.
