City of Sunnyvale Meeting Minutes - Final Housing and Human Services Commission Wednesday, April 14, 2021 7:00 PM Telepresence Meeting: Web Stream Special Meeting TELECONFERENCE PRESENCE CALL TO ORDER Chair Hiremath called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. ROLL CALL Present: 6 - Chair Ken Hiremath Vice Chair Elinor Stetson Commissioner Diana Gilbert Commissioner Minjung Kwok Commissioner Linda Sell Commissioner Emily White Council Liaison Gustav Larsson (absent) ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Chair Hiremath read an announcement about current recruitment for various boards and commissions. Applications are due by 5 pm on Friday, April 30. CONSENT CALENDAR 1.A 21-0487 Approve the Housing and Human Services Commission Meeting Minutes of March 24, 2021 Chair Hiremath asked for discussion, or a motion, to approve the Consent Calendar. MOTION: Vice Chair Stetson moved and Commissioner Sell seconded the motion to Approve the Housing and Human Services Commission Minutes of March 24, 2021 as submitted. The motion carried by the following vote: City of Sunnyvale Page 1 Housing and Human Services Meeting Minutes - Final April 14, 2021 Commission Yes: 6 - Chair Hiremath Vice Chair Stetson Commissioner Gilbert Commissioner Kwok Commissioner Sell Commissioner White No: 0 PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS 2 21-0069 Consider Approval of Draft 2021 Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Action Plan Leif Christiansen, Housing Programs Analyst, provided the staff report. After clarifying questions of staff, Chair Hiremath opened and closed the public hearing at 7:28 p.m. No members of the public asked to speak. After a short discussion, Chair Hiremath asked for a motion. MOTION: Vice Chair Stetson moved and Commissioner Gilbert seconded the motion to approve Alternative 1: Recommend that the City Council approve the 2021 HUD Action Plan as shown in Attachment 2 of the staff report. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 6 - Chair Hiremath Vice Chair Stetson Commissioner Gilbert Commissioner Kwok Commissioner Sell Commissioner White No: 0 STANDING ITEM: CONSIDERATION OF POTENTIAL STUDY ISSUES 21-0488 Housing and Human Services Commission Proposed Study Issues, Calendar Year: 2022 Housing Officer Jenny Carloni noted that the Housing and Human Services Commission currently doesn't have any proposed study issues and briefly reviewed the study issues process. City of Sunnyvale Page 2 Housing and Human Services Meeting Minutes - Final April 14, 2021 Commission Commissioner Sell inquired if it can be proposed as a study issue.to have presentations similar to the Sustainability Speaker Series, but focused on affordable housing practices in the region. NON-AGENDA ITEMS & COMMENTS -Commissioner Comments None. -Staff Comments Housing Officer Carloni noted that the BMR Ownership Ordinance and an amendment to the 2020 Action Plan would be heard at the May 26 meeting. She also noted that the Mobile Home MOU/Accord would be heard at the June 23 meeting. ADJOURNMENT Chair Hiremath adjourned the meeting at 7:34 p.m. City of Sunnyvale Page 3
