The meeting was called to order by Arthur Gil de Lamadrid at 5:17pm on July 10th, 2024 in Government
Center Room 204.

4.1 Police and Fire Commission (Special Meeting held 05/01/2024)
Motion by Tom Johnson, second by Akela Lloyd, and carried to approve the minutes
from 05/01/2024.
5 POLICE AND FIRE UPDATES
The Police Department made a full offer to a candidate for the second Coordinated Response
Specialist; they will start August 2024. Two police officer candidates will be attending recruit
school this Summer and one applicant is currently going through the background process.
The department is completing a property room audit, as well as a department equipment
audit. No update on new squads from Ford.
Members of the Fire Department toured departments in the Madison and Twin Cities area to
get ideas for the upcoming renovations to Stations 2 and 3. Chief Vollbrecht briefly discussed
recent trainings the department did. One new Firefighter started this month.

Chief Vollbrecht gave a brief update on recent trainings and calls within the Fire Department.

Chief Winterscheidt states there will be seven interviews for the second coordinated response
specialist position; there were a total of 12 applicants. Bids were put out for a vehicle barrier
system that the Police Department hopes to use for special events within the community.

Chief Vollbrecht requests a one-time exception to hire a candidate while they are currently in
an EMT course to get the background process started with a completion date no later than
July 31, 2024.
Motion by Arthur Gil de Lamadrid, second by Akela Lloyd, to approve a one-time
revision to the hiring process to hire a candidate currently enrolled in an EMT course
with the requirement the candidate has passed the EMT test by July 31, 2024.
