SWEENY PARKS AND RECS REGULAR MEETING MINUTES/NOTES Monday, September 1, 2025 at 5:30 PM Sweeny Community Meeting Building (205 W Ashley Wilson), Sweeny, TX 77480 In Attendance Cerrington Massey Woody Tolley Jenny Massey Caniel Massey Notes Meeting started at 5:30pm Backyard Park Revitalization (Motioned by Caniel Massey 2nd Tolley) All in favor $5,000 donation from PChem, - Planned improvements include: Installing 4 to 6 umbrella picnic tables and two park benches Adding a new basketball court Renovating the existing volleyball court Purchasing 25–30 pieces of metal roofing to repair and improve the pavilion Removing dead tree stomp MLK Park Enhancements (Motioned by Caniel Massey 2nd Tolley) All in favor Install the park light that was previously discussed Restripe the basketball court The City will only need to purchase the cement and wiring—previously used by Parks and Rec—to proceed with the installation. TJT Walking Trail Fitness Project (Motion J. Massey 2nd by Cerrington Massey) All in favor Donation of a $5,000 grant to support the addition of five fitness stations along the walking trail, promoting health and wellness in our community and a bench. Chicken Anderson Park Lighting (Motioned by Caniel Massey 2nd Tolley) All in favor Install a new light pole at Chicken Anderson Park. The City will need to provide concrete and wiring—borrowed previously from Parks—for this project to be completed. Modular Restroom Initiative (Motion J. Massey 2nd by Cerrington Massey) All in favor 1 Obtain quotes and will in the future seek donations for a modular-style restroom to serve park visitors. While it may begin as a single-unit facility, we believe this will be a meaningful first step in improving park amenities. Texas New Mexico emailed to request they replace and fix any lights at the Parks. Work Day (Motion by Tolley 2nd by Caniel Massey) All in favor We are looking into having a work day where all city organizations can assist in implementing these goals on Oct 4.
