SWEENY BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE Thursday, June 05, 2025 at 5:30 PM Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room; 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road, Sweeny, Texas MINUTES BE IT KNOWN that Sweeny Beautification Committee of the City of Sweeny met in Regular Session on Thursday, June 05, 2025 at 5:30 PM. at Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room; 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road, Sweeny, Texas with the following agenda. I. CALL TO ORDER: Sanci Kennedy called to order the meeting of the Sweeny Beautification Committee at 5:45pm on Thursday, June 5th, 2025 II. ROLL CALL: Sanci Kennedy, Ashley Rambo, Joanna Rambo, Ellen Farley – by phone, Starr Fitch, Melanie Mullins, Kayla Peterson, Dusty Hopkins – by phone, and Erica Landriault were present. III. TREASURER’S REPORT: Current Balance = $28,066.75 IV. MINUTE APPROVAL/DISAPPROVAL: Motion made by Kayla and seconded by Ashley to approve the previous minutes from May 1, 2025 and May 15, 2025. All in favor. Motion carried. V. NEW BUSINESS: SWEENY PRIDE DAY: • 2025 Final Report o Income=$10,996 o Expenses=$9009.04 o Profit = $1986.96 • 2026 Planning o Mayor Dusty Hopkins would like to lend help however he can and has ideas of selling wristbands and adding an all you can eat crawfish boil and concert to Saturday night to bring in more revenue or making this an event separate from pride day. o Dusty will reach out to another organization that hosts a similar event and report back with details, profit margin reporting, etc. LIBRARY ART MURAL: • Original artist has quoted $4,000-$5000 for project • Lola Stardust quoted $5000 for project 1  • Motion made by Joanna and seconded by Erica for Ashley to proceed with original artist to make changes to “Brick wall Bulldog” design according to committee feedback, with final draft to be approved by the committee per vote via GroupMe. o All in favor. Motion carried. TRAFFIC CONTROL BOX ART: • Motion made by Ashley and seconded by Melanie to proceed with seeking city council’s approval to paint the traffic control box at Ashley Wilson Rd & Main St. o All in favor. Motion carried. LIBRARY PLANTING: • Tree and stump removal needs to be done ahead of the fall tree planting partnering with Trees for Houston and P66. • P66 is covering cost of trees and Sanci is seeking quotes from various companies for us to cover cost of tree removal and library landscaping. SWEENY WELCOME SIGN: • Motion made by Ashley and seconded by Kayla for Sanci to proceed in seeking quotes for stone signs and seeking donations from other local organizations and businesses for the sign. o All in favor. Motion carried. FY26 BUDGET: • Motion made by Joanna and seconded by Kayla to approve the budget as follows: • All in favor. Motion carried. 2 3 Meeting adjourned at 7:51pm.
