SWEENY BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 5:30 PM Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room; 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road, Sweeny, Texas MINUTES BE IT KNOWN that Sweeny Beautification Committee of the City of Sweeny met in Regular Session on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 5:30 PM. at Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room; 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road, Sweeny, Texas with the following agenda. I. CALL TO ORDER: Sanci Kennedy called to order the meeting of the Sweeny Beautification Committee at 5:37pm on Thursday, August 14, 2025 II. ROLL CALL: Sanci Kennedy, Ashley Rambo, Joanna Rambo, Ellen Farley – by phone, Starr Fitch, Melanie Mullins, J’Cee Coufal, Kayla Peterson, Erica Landriault, Nina Mendia, Stacy McMullin, Shelly Alfrey, Tabatha Krober, and Shaun Massey were present. III. TREASURER’S REPORT: Current Balance = $28,317.30 IV. MINUTE APPROVAL/DISAPPROVAL: Motion made by Starr and seconded by Kayla to approve the previous minutes from June 5, 2025. All in favor. Motion carried. V. NEW BUSINESS: BOARD OF DIRECTOR NOMINATIONS: • Nominations are open for board of director nominations for the fiscal year of Oct. 1, 2025 – Sept. 30, 2026. Discussion and possible action to amend committee bylaws and officer positions. • Motion made by Joanna and seconded by Kayla to amend the Sweeny Beautification Committee Constitution and By-Laws Article III;Section 3-Membership as follows: “Membership shall consist of voting and non-voting members. In order to serve as a NEW voting member, you must attend 3 (three) consecutive regular meetings during a fiscal year, after your third consecutive meeting you will gain voting rights. New voting members will be required to sign a term of agreement, stating they have read and understand the by-laws and standing rules. Those members wishing to serve as non-voting members can attend any meeting during the year to help promote and assist with any beautification project or function.” o All in favor. Motion carried. • Motion made by Ashley and seconded by Starr to remove the co-treasurer position and return to having only 1 treasurer and amend the bylaws to reflect this change. o All in favor. Motion carried. 1  • Slate of Officers nominated as follows: o President – Sanci Kennedy o Vice President – Ashley Rambo o Secretary – Joanna Rambo o Treasurer – Kayla Peterson • Floor will be open for nominations at September meeting where voting will take place. LIBRARY ART MURAL: • Design has been finalized and approved, contract between the artist and city has been signed by both parties. • Project is officially in progress with the artist beginning work earlier this week. TRAFFIC CONTROL BOX ART: • No update - Ashley is waiting to make contact with SHS art department before seeking city council’s approval. TREE PLANTING: • Partner project with P66 and Trees for Houston, will coincide with our “Fall Sweep” o October 30, 2025 o 8 – 10:30am • Flower bed removal at the library needs to be done ahead of the fall tree planting SWEENY WELCOME SIGN: • Sweeny Chamber wants to split the cost of city welcome sign(s). Sanci is waiting for cemetery to have their quarterly meeting, we have requested to place the stone sign in the front triangle of cemetery near Marsh Vet Clinic before seeking city council approval. 2025-2026 EVENT AND PROJECT DATES: • Motion made by Ashley and seconded by Melanie to do away with the Boodog dash 5k for Halloween this year. o All in favor. Motion carried. • Motion made by Kayla and seconded by Melanie to approve event timeline for 2025-2026 as follows: EVENT DATE TIME Jr. High Halloween Dance October 7, 2025 6pm – 9pm Fall Sweep/Tree Planting October 30, 2025 8am – 10:30am Main Street Cleanup November 15, 2025 8am – 10:30am 4 Annual Fall Bake Sale th November 20, 2025 9:30am – 2pm Christmas in the Park December 6, 2025 3pm – 8:30pm Jr. High Valentine’s Dance February 13, 2026 6pm – 9pm Great American Cleanup March 28, 2026 8am – 10:30am Don’t Mess with Texas® Trash Off April 11, 2026 7:30am – 10am Sweeny Pride Day Pageant April 25, 2026 5pm Sweeny Pride Day May 1-2, 2026 2  o All in favor. Motion carried CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK 2025: • Chairpersons have been assigned as follows: o Vendors – Starr o Decorating – J’Cee o Parade – Erica o Walk of Trees – Kayla & Stacy o Joe Pantalone/Street of Lights – Ashley, Sanci & Joanna o Entertainment – Ashley o Children’s Entertainment – Sanci o Publicity/Sponsors – Ashley & Sanci o SBC Booth – J’Cee • Decorating will begin earlier this year, no later than November 8th. Meeting adjourned at 6:50pm.
