OFFICIAL MINUTES SYKESVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION April 27, 2023 Present: Alex Ries Eric Valenstein Dominic Capparuccini Billy Shifflet Liza Guroff, Council Liaison Staff: Jana Antrobus, Staff Liaison Absent: Chris Sevick Nick Sheets Brian Troast Call to Order Alex Ries, Co-Chair, called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Approval of the Minutes Motion was made by Co-Chair Ries and seconded by Co-Chair Valenstein to approve the March 23 Minutes as presented. All voted in favor. Business Banner and Sign Design/Purchase Co-Chair Valenstein will look into design and purchase and will provide an update to the Commissioners at the May Meeting. Motion Co-Chair Valenstein motioned and Commissioner Shifflet seconded to approve up to $500 for the design and purchase and signs. All voted in favor. Summer Events • Sykesville Cinema o Post events, apply for food permit, and purchase DVD – Co-Chair Ries o Children’s Activities – Co-Chair Valenstein o Snack Shack Supplies – Commissioner Sevick o Children’s activities – Co-Chair Valenstein o Facebook Boost – Co-Chair Valenstein o Movie setup – Commissioner Capparuccini o Movie Sponsorships - The following have been confirmed. Co-Chair Ries will reach out to additional business. ▪ Olde Town Motors – Gold Membership ▪ French Twist – Gold Membership ▪ Premier Connect Inc. – Gold Membership • Concerts in the Park o Confirmed Band – “Here Til Sunday” • Skateboard Contest – No Updates OFFICIAL MINUTES SYKESVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION April 27, 2023 Town Updates • Trees have been planted at Millard Cooper Park. One (1) Pin Oak, four (4) Cherry and one (1) Red Bud. • The Mayor will host an Arbor Day celebration on April 28 at 9:00 am at Millard Cooper Park. All are invited. • The community continues to express interest for the Town to construct a pickle ball court in one of the parks. Adjournment There being no other business, Co-Chair Ries motioned and Commissioner Capparuccini seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:15 PM. All voted in favor.
