OFFICIAL MINUTES SYKESVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION June 22, 2023 Present: Alex Ries Dominic Capparuccini Nick Sheets Chris Sevick Billy Shifflet Staff: Jana Antrobus, Staff Liaison Absent: Eric Valenstein Liza Guroff, Council Liaison Call to Order Alex Ries, Co-Chair, called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Approval of the Minutes Motion was made by Co-Chair Ries and seconded by Commissioner Sheets to approve the May 25 Minutes as presented. All voted in favor. Business Summer Events 1. Skateboard Contest • Jason from Shrimptown is designing a flyer and will send out prior to the next meeting. 2. Sykesville Cinema - The Muppet Christmas Carol (Christmas in July) • Volunteers are confirmed. • Commissioner Sevick will stock the Snack Shack. • Commissioner Sevick will put out the movie signs and Commissioner Capparuccini will pick them up. • Play Christmas music before movie. • Commissioner Shifflet will reach out to the Grinch volunteer about attending. • Children’s Craft - Co-Chair Valenstein. • Commissioner Capparuccini to assist with movie setup. • Commissioner Shifflet to assist with the ads. i. Co-Chair Reis to create a slide: “Notify a Volunteer to “Request Closed Caption” • Commissioner Sheets will pick up and drop off the cash box. 3. Music in the Park • Two bands confirmed. ▪ August 26 - Liberty Road ▪ September 23 - TBD ▪ September 30 - Here Till Sunday OFFICIAL MINUTES SYKESVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION June 22, 2023 Snack Shack Menu Prices • The Commission decided to discuss at the July meeting. July 4 Parade • Girl Scout Troop 2324 confirmed to ride on the float. (To arrive at Sykesville Middle School by 9:45). • Bryan Troast will clean and touchup paint on the float • Commissioner Sevick will purchase 2 bags of candy • Commissioner Sheets will pick up Sparky from the Townhouse • Volunteers to arrive at 9:00 am to decorate the float • Public Works ▪ Load float onto trailer. ▪ Provide 4 straw bales. ▪ Provide a truck and driver ▪ Have float to Sykesville Middle School by 8:30 am. Adjournment There being no other business, Co-Chair Ries motioned and Commissioner Capparuccini seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:58 PM. All voted in favor.
