OFFICIAL MINUTES SYKESVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION October 26, 2023 Present: Eric Valenstein Dominic Capparuccini Chris Sevick Nick Sheets Billy Shifflet Staff: Jana Antrobus, Staff Liaison Absent: Alex Ries Liza Guroff, Council Liaison Call to Order Eric Valenstein, Co-Chair, called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Approval of the Minutes Motion was made by Commissioner Sheets and seconded by Commissioner Shifflet to approve the September 28 Minutes as presented. All voted in favor. Business 1. Sykesville Skate Jam • Date will be discussed at the November meeting. 2. Trick or Treat on Main • Co-chair Ries will purchase candy and attend event. • Commissioner’s Shifflet, Sevick and Valenstein will also attend. 3. Movie equipment on loan • The Commission decided against loaning out SPARC’s movie equipment. 4. Santa’s Arrival • Children’s craft – Co-chair Valenstein • Movie – Commissioner Shifflet and volunteer • Characters o Sparky – Commissioner Sheets o Mrs. Claus – Commissioner Sevick o Grinch – Volunteer o Elves – Volunteers (2) o Frosty – TBD • Facebook Boost to promote event – Co-chair Valenstein • Purchase 30’ to 40’ of garland – Commissioner Sevick • Coordinate with Farm & Home for access to the location for the movie setup by 3:00 pm. – Staff 5. Adjournment There being no other business, Co-Chair Valenstein motioned and Commissioner Sheets seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:24 PM. All voted in favor.
