OFFICIAL MINUTES SYKESVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION November 16, 2023 Present: Alex Ries Eric Valenstein Dominic Capparuccini Dan Gilbert Chris Sevick Nick Sheets Liza Guroff, Council Liaison Staff: Jana Antrobus, Staff Liaison Absent: Billy Shifflet Call to Order Alex Ries, Co-Chair, called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Approval of the Minutes Motion: Commissioner Sheets motioned to approve the October 26, 2023 Minutes and Commissioner Valenstein seconded the motion. All voted in favor. Business 1. Sykesville Skate Jam Motion: Co-chair Ries motioned to approve April 27, 2024 as the event date for the Sykesville Skate Jam and Commissioner Sheets seconded the motion. All voted in favor. 2. Santa’s Arrival - December 2, 3pm to 6pm • Co-chair Valenstein - Boost event on Facebook • Commissioner Shifflett and Commissioner Gilbert – Movie setup • Staff – Purchase 500 mini candy canes • Staff – Inventory items in basement for pickup on the day of the event: Tables, tablecloth, movie equipment, carpet squares, SPARC sign and stockings. • Co-chair Ries – Coat Donation prep • Characters will have access to the Visitor Center Tower to change • Tree Lighting at 6:00ish 3. 2024 Meeting Schedule Approval Motion: Co-chair Ries motioned to approve the 2024 Meeting Schedule and Commissioner Sevick seconded to approve the 2024 Meeting Schedule. All voted in favor.
