Tallmadge City Council Regular Business Meeting (2013-2019)

SPECIAL REGULAR COUNCIL in Council Chambers @ 6:45 p.m. May 20, 13 1. CALL TO ORDER: Acting President of Council Maguire called the Special Regular Council meeting of May 20, 2013 to order at 6:46 p.m. 2. PRAYER: Silent prayer. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: 3. ROLL CALL: Mrs. Kilway, Mrs. Ray, Mr. Sarver, Mr. Stalnaker, Mr. Donovan and Acting Pres. of Council Mr. Maguire – present. Also present were Mayor Kline, Ass’t. Dir. of Finance Gilbride, Dir. of Law Raber, Director of Public Service Esler, Economic Developer Loughry and Clerk of Council Burton. 4. DISCUSSION: Mr. Sarver: Point of order. Dir. of Law: I was going to . . . I was going to . . . Mr. Sarver: You are going to address it? Do you want me to? I don’t care. Dir. of Law: That’s alright. I was about to do that. Mr. Sarver: OK; go ahead. Dir. of Law: If I may at this point, just say that it was brought to my attention this evening as we arrived that the agenda for today’s Special Meeting says, “Special Council of the Whole Committee Meeting” to be set at 6:45 p.m. It was a typographical error. It was set and voted on as a Regular Council meeting, but given that this is what was posted . . . and according to the Sunshine Laws; I would advise erring on the side of caution. I believe that we may later, at the 7:00 p.m. meeting, be discussing setting some special meetings and so I would recommend that we just add these items and set another Special Meeting of the Regular Council to address these three pieces of legislation. Mr. Sarver: Do you want a motion? So moved. Seconded Mrs. Ray. Acting Pres. of Council: There has been a motion by Mr. Sarver and a second by Mrs. Ray. All those in favor. Mayor: What is the motion? Dir. of Law: So, the motion was to set another meeting and to cancel this meeting. Mr. Sarver: Oh yeah; cancel this meeting because it says “Committee of the Whole” and set a Special Business Meeting to address the items that need to be addressed. That is my motion. Mrs. Ray: I will second it again. Acting Pres. of Council: A motion has been made again by Mr. Sarver and seconded by Kim Ray. Can we do a voice vote? Dir. of Law: Yes. Acting Pres. of Council: All those in favor signify by saying aye. All voted aye. The motion carries by a vote of 6-0. Mr. Sarver: I move to adjourn. Dir. of Law: Yeah, I think that if you want to just set it all at the 7:00 p.m. meeting when you set the other special meetings so that everything is at the same time. Thank you. 5. ADJOURNMENT: Mr. Sarver moved to adjourn. Seconded Mr. Donovan. All those in favor; aye. The motion carries by a vote of 6-0.
